I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas. As I write this, it is exactly one week before the big day. Since I don’t deal well with being too busy because I get overwhelmed and shutdown, I’ve been careful to keep things low key. My boys arrived home over the weekend and we went to see the new Starwars movie together–loved it. I look forward to spending the week alternating between writing and spending time with my boys. It’s not often we are all home at the same time so I will treasure the next couple of weeks.
The end of the year is often a time of reflection, and I’ve done my fair share of reflecting on 2017. I began the year thinking I was going to write exclusively indie and ended the year with a three book contract and still writing independently lol. I’m officially a hybrid. :)
I tend to be goal oriented and although this past year was extremely full and honestly too busy, I’m pleased with my accomplishments. I re-published five books and wrote and published two new ones. I have my next indie book up on Amazon for pre-order and the first book in my new series for my publisher is ready to turn in. Yes, I’ve been busy! I’m looking forward to slowing down in 2018.
It’s not healthy to be as busy as I was. I’ve given myself permission to be less productive in regards to writing and focus more on relationships and good health. In 2018 I will only publish three books. All but one of the books that will release in 2018 are written, but I must write at least two because my next book is due to my publisher in September, and I also want to release a Christmas book next year–it’s become a tradition for me to release a Christmas book every year.
What about you? Will you be making any changes in the new year, or are you happy with how things are going? I’m not one for making resolutions, but if you are and want to share go for it.
