Happy Friday!
Lindi here. I hope everyone has had an amazing week and, can we believe it, the month is almost over! I hope your October was great. I’m not sure where mine went, but, it did include a lot of special days. But first, reading recap. Okay, so my non-fiction book was one I had to read for a seminary certificate. It was really good. Delighting in the Trinity by Michael Reeves. Excellent read. I’m now reading Think and Eat Yourself Smart by Caroline Leaf. I haven’t actually started it yet, but I’m about to. I love reading books on nutrition. This is a new love. Not one I’ve ever had before. My fiction reading has been slack this month. I did buy a few books at a conference I attended, though.
So last month I talked about new things going on.
And yes, new things are going on.
I know I’ve shared posts before about my Single Dad Next Door series. Well, I’ve finally put them in one collection, and am super-excited to show you this cover! Single Dad Next Door series.
I’m trying to create a small-town feel with the cover and the Devon Park reference on the cover. The four book in this series are connected only by the town and the fact that the heroines in the story all live next door to single dads. Well, one heroine moved to the town because her best friend moved there, so there’s that connection as well. I’m continuing the Devon Park theme next year with a Main Street series, highlighting the owners or employees of the business I’ve mentioned in the Single Dad Next Door series. I also have story ideas for a holiday series if readers love Devon Park.
I know a lot of the gals here on the Inspy blog write series novels and novellas. They really are a great way to create community within the pages of the book and with readers. When readers find a town and a cast of characters they can bond with, it makes reading fun. And it’s fun talking stories and story towns with other readers.
While those novellas are on the calendar for 2018, I’ve got a new series titled Sweetly Southern, that the first book came out in April of this year.
Sweet Love of Mine is my NY chef story where my hero looses his passion for food. My heroine needs food for the very first event her new business is planning. It’s a sweet novel, and well, her best friend, Scarlett shows up and I now have to tell her story. And Scarlett has a twin sister named Savannah who gets book 3.
I’m working on Beautiful Heart of His as we speak. I don’t have a definite release date right now, but it will be in the near future. This is Scarlett and Mason’s story and it is proving to be a lot of fun!
It feels good to be able to share the writing journey here! I love hearing from readers, also, what they love to read. So in the comments section, can you share one or two series that you have read, or maybe have read a couple of books and you can’t wait to get back to the rest of the series? Thanks in advance for sharing that info!
Hi Lindi, today was world teachers day, so happy teachers day to any teachers:) I love reading series- seeing connections with previous characters and ‘hearing’ their stories. Too many series to name…JoAnn Durgin’s Lewis Legacy series, Carol Moncado’s royalty series, Ginger Solomon’s series…so many others that I don’t want to leave anyone out!
Blessings:)
Let’s see. I’ve read so many great series. The Belle Meade Plantation series by Tamera Alexander. The Camdyn series by Christina Coryell. The Christiansen family series and Deep Haven series by Susan May Warren. The O’Malley series by Dee Henderson. The Hagenheim series by Melanie Dickerson. The Age of Faith series by Tamera Leigh. That’s a lot more than a couple so I’ll hush now.
Lindi, it’s great to hear about all of your projects. I’m with you about the small-town feel, and I love that linking concept you have–both with single dads next door and with Main Street businesses. Both Valerie Comer and Elizabeth Maddrey have terrific themed series that I read whenever I can.
I agree with the series that Sherri G listed, also Becky Wade’s Bradford Sisters Romance, Rachel Hauck’s Royal Wedding Series, Kimberly Rae Jordan’s BlackThorpe Security series and The Callaghans & McFaddens series,Belle Calhoune’s Seven Brides Seven Brothers, and there are so many, many more!!
Happy teachers day! :) Thanks for letting us know. And yes, I agree about there being a lot of series to read.
Sherri—Thanks for sharing the series. I haven’t read some of these! Always great to get awesome recommendations.
Lee—there is something special about connections. :)
Yes!! Series and more series! I hope anyone reading the comments will pick up some of these are start reading! :)
I enjoy series as well and then spin off series after that. I’ve enjoyed a lot of the series mentioned in above comments.
wow congratulations and best of luck
Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy! Series rock. :)
I enjoy reading series, especially small towns, Senior sleuths, food themes, international, & holidays. I enjoy Valerie Comer’s Farm Fresh Series, Carol Moncado’s Serienity Landing or Crown & Courtship Series, and Marion Ueckermann’s Seven Suitors for Seven Sisters. Also enjoy Hope Callaghan’s cozy mysteries The Garden Girls set in Michigan with senior sleuth Gloria. Bring on a good series and I’m hooked.
I enjoy reading series, and have received some good ideas from the comments here! I follow Tamera Alexander, Irene Hannon, Jessica Patch, and many others in their series!
I usually prefer reading books in a series over standalone stories because I get to keep coming back and revisiting the characters. Some of my favorites: Mitford by Jan Karon, all of the Baxter family series by Karen Kingsbury, and all of the Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn.
I think most of my favorite series by favorite authors have been mentioned – Val Comer, Carol Moncado, Elizabeth Maddrey, Rachel Hauck, Kimberly Rae Jordan…
Some of my favorite series are by Cindy Woodsmall, Kim Vogel Sawyer, Ann Gabhart, etc
I love series books, you get to visit the characters from the previous book and get to watch all the HEA happen for them :-) (happily-ever-afters for those who don’t know). Dani Pettrey’s Alaskan Courage & Chesapeake Valor series, Irene Hannon’s Hope Harbor, Men of Valor and her new one Code of Honor series, any of Dee Henderson series, Susan May Warren’s Montana Rescue series, Ruth Logan Herne’s Double S Ranch….and I could go on!
I think you figured out by now I love series…lol! I have also read some by our Inspy writers here too…JoAnne Durgin being one of them. So many books and so little time!!!
Hi Diana—Me, too! Also, can’t wait to read more.
Thank you, Lori!
Val, yes! Looking ahead at the calendar can be exciting and scary!
Renate—this is the second time I’ve heard the word sleuth today—just thought I’d mention that. :) All good series mentioned above. Thanks for giving a shout out!
Jackie–I remember Tamera’s very first book! I loved it.
Jessica B—I agree! I’m excited to hopefully build that kind of series. :)
Hi Margaret—So many talented ladies here on the Inspy Blog! So much reading to do. :)
Lucy—Great authors. I love that you mention Cindy. She’s a friend of mine and an amazing lady. :)
Trixi—Yes, all good authors you mentioned. I love the idea of reading a series in Alaska. How fun! What a beautiful place. I think place attracts as well, don’t you?
I really enjoy series and the authors that have been mentioned. More include Kristi Ann Hunter and Julianna Deering and E.E. Kennedy, Roseanna White and a multi author cozy series called Annie’s Attic. I’m sure I’m forgetting a whole lot more— what can I say! I love to read!
