Last November, I published An Aria for Nick, , book 2 in my Song of Suspense Series. When that finished, the plan was for me to start working on Iron Skillet Man, book 3 in the Parody Cookbook Series. Only, I couldn’t get fully involved in Iron Skillet Man because I was so consumed with thoughts of writing a Christmas book for my fans.
Now, I’ll remind you– this was November. This was a Wednesday. If I wanted to make it free by Thanksgiving (which was my goal), I needed to have it published to all of the venues by Sunday that week in order to do price-matching and make it free for my readers — because there’s a process to get it free. It’s not automatic.
So, I started writing. AS I wrote, the plot developed in my head. I took one of my readers’ favorite couples – Robin and Tony Viscolli, fast forwarded them a couple of decades, and wrote the love story of their son, TJ. In the middle of writing it, I thought, “I should tie this into my upcoming WWII series and find a true event to tell about at the end of the book.” So, I had TJ fall in love with Faith Green, the granddaughter of my WWII pilot, Helen Mulberry, codenamed Faith.
By Friday night, I had the draft of Christmas Diamond written. By Saturday morning, it was at my editor. By Sunday morning, my husband had formatted and uploaded it. For the next few weeks, we worked with the cover designer. Finally, it went free the day after Thanksgiving.
That December, it was the number 1 free book on Amazon for several days, and it has always remained ranked in the holidays category on Amazon, even through the influx of Valentine’s Day books.
It was a fun story to write. If you would like a quick read (it’s a novella, so it’s relatively short) during this busy and festive season, take a moment and download Christmas Diamond.
Christmas Diamond is FREE in most any e-book format from the following fine booksellers:
iBooks, Amazon, Barnes & Noble,Google Play, Smashwords, Kobo, Bookie Jar, Lulu, Deeper Shopping

Here’s the blurb:
Inspired by the Jewel Series and Virtues and Valor series
Faith Green spends her career as a pilot honoring her grandmother’s heroic efforts during World War II. When she’s invited to participate in a Christmas time air show in the Florida Keys, she thinks it will be exciting to fly somewhere warm and sunny instead of her cold and wintery London home. But on her first day, she encounters a lifeless body washed up onto the beach.
TJ Viscolli is the eldest child and only son of a wealthy and powerful corporate mogul but instead of modern business his interests lie in history. Months away from a Ph.D., he has an accident windsurfing at his Key West home. When he is resuscitated by a beautiful women, at first he thinks that a Christmas angel has come to save him.
The couple share the common bond of a love of history and romance blossoms. But an accident during the Christmas Eve air show threatens their hope of a life spent together. Will God provide a Christmas miracle, or will the future look cold and dark like a winter night?

Hallee…I enjoyed reading the background of how you came to write Christmas Diamond to make it a special gift to your readers. I checked my Kindle and saw that I have it in the Cloud. I have downloaded it to my Kindle and it will be my next book to read. I loved your Jewell series so not sure why I didn’t read this novella at the time. Thanks for offering it again and bringing it to my attention.
