This month marks nine years of me being a published author. It seems surreal to think nine years has past since my very first indi book. But on the other hand, those years went by so quickly. When I think of how many books I read in an year (~150), nine years entails many lifetimes told through various characters. So in case you’ve never read my books or if you want to know what tropes are in which books, I thought I’d break down some of the lives you can live in a book written by me.
Royal romance trope
I love the royal romance trope because it’s like a fancy way to escape and live a life I’ll never get to live. But it’s even more fun if I can add a dash of reality. In Search of a Prince was my first royal book where my heroine, Brielle, finds out she’s a secret princess and next in line for the throne. Of course I had to give her best friend a story, so in To Win a Prince, Iris falls in love with a prince despite the obstacles stacked against them. Besides the royal trope, ISOAP offers marriage of convenience, fish out of water, and international setting. TWAP brings you forced proximity and office romance as well.
Sports romance trope
I’m a huge football fan and I enjoy watching other sports. But I actually only have one published currently. I’m hoping to change that in the future. The Christmas Catch will release in September and features a football hero who’s been injured. It’s also a single mom trope with second chances featured as well.
Fairytale retellings
I’ve done two fairytale retellings and I loved them so much. A Snow White Christmas is a Snow White retelling. ;) You’ve got the added bonus of a Christmas setting that is modern day but I think it’ll have you thinking about Snow White as well. Then there was An Ever After Summer which is a Beauty and the Beast retelling set in present day France. I adore this one as well because BatB is one of my favorite retellings.
Holiday romance (specifically Christmas)
Y’all, I’ve done a lot of Christmas novellas. What can I say, it’s one of the best times of year and I enjoy writing about the time. You Make It Feel Like Christmas is book one in the Lewis Family series. Each story tells the journey of a Lewis sibling. There is Noel, Eve, Gabe, Angel, and Starr. YMIFLC starts with Starr and you get brother’s best friend trope along with returning home. Then All I Want features Angel and it’s redemption story paired with single dad. Last (because I haven’t written the last two) is Gabe featured in Most Wonderful Time and that is a grumpy/sunshine trope.
Celebrity romance
So I have quite a few celebrity books. I’m simply fascinated by them and I’ll definitely read a book with this trope so it made sense to write it myself. I’ve got The Love Script which is also paired with fake dating, fish out of the water, and may even give off some Cinderella vibes like In Search of a Prince. Then there is my Faith & Fortune series. The Trouble with Love features a pop singer who falls for her best friend’s brother. There is also some enemies to more vibes going on. Then the second book, The Truth About Fame, features a supermodel and a bodyguard (that’s it’s own trope). There’s a touch of suspense in it with the whole opposites of attract. Last is The Price of Dreams with the celebrity being a principal ballerina who falls for her physical therapist after an injury. This also has interracial romance.
If you’ve followed my career at all, you know that’s not all of the books. But at the risk of exhausting your reading eyes (I’d rather you go and pick up a book), I’ll stop. You can find all of my books at tonishiloh.com/books. And you can always leave a question about my books in the comments. I’m happy to answer them! Thanks for being so awesome!
I remember the days of reading well over 100 books a year. Feels like a lifetime ago its probably 11 years. Now I am happy with 20 well not really I want to read more but its not that simple. I have enjoyed the books I have read of yours. I have also really enjoyed getting to you. Especially at the FB group.
