My definition of a good book is a story that includes romance and makes me feel like I’m right there with the characters. Five Days in Skye, by Carla Laureano definitely delivered that and more. I finished the book several days ago and I still can’t get it out of my head. Here’s the back cover copy.
Hospitality consultant Andrea Sullivan has one last chance to snag a high-profile client or she’ll have to kiss her dreams of promotion good-bye. When she’s sent to meet Scottish celebrity chef James MacDonald on the Isle of Skye, she just wants to finish her work as efficiently as possible. Yet her client is not the opportunistic womanizer he portrays himself to be, and her attraction to him soon dredges up memories she’d rather leave buried. For James, renovating the family hotel is a fulfillment of his late father’s dreams. When his hired consultant turns out to be beautiful, intelligent, and completely unimpressed by his public persona, he makes it his mission to win her over. He just never expects to fall under her spell.
Soon, both Andrea and James must face the reality that God may have a far different purpose for their lives-and that five days in Skye will forever change their outlook on life and love.
What great romance have your read lately? What made it so wonderful?

This is my favorite I’ve read lately, too!

Ah! What a lovely surprise! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I’ve read three books lately I’ve liked a lot: Elizabeth Byler Younts’ Promise to Return (and considering I don’t like Amish, that’s saying something), Hillary Manton Lodge’s A Table By the Window, and Jen Turano’s A Match of Wits. All three authors are friends and all are amazing writers!

I have read this book also and truly loved it. I hope to read more of her books. I have always enjoyed inspiration books but over the past couple of years I have found I really don’t want to read secular anymore. I like this website because it opens up other possible authors to pick from. Thanks for sharing your post.

Hi Purplemeri65, I’m with you on reading Christian fiction. There are so many fantastic options available now, regardless of genre. The Christian market has definitely grown.

Hi Carla, I thought about letting you know I was doing this, but surprises are more fun. :)
When is your next book coming out?
I’ll have to check out the books you mentioned.

I haven’t read Carla’s book yet, but everyone keeps telling me I should. Maybe one day soon I’ll get the opportunity.
I really enjoyed Cara Putman’s Shadowed by Grace, for similar reasons to why you enjoyed Skye. Cara brought the history of the Monuments Men and WWII to life so well, I felt like I was living it right along with the characters. It’s a wonderful read that I can’t recommend enough.
Blessings,
Andrea

You’re very sweet (and yes I was surprised!) The next book in this series is coming out Summer 2015. But I have my last two volumes in my fantasy series releasing in Feb & Sept 2015 as well. Busy year!
