I’m sure you can all guess that I enjoy reading contemporary Christian romance books. But I have a confession to make: I am a huge fan of modern Christian royalty stories. A book about a prince or a princess who finds their true love always makes me smile.
I’m currently reading Rachel Hauck’s new release, To Save a King. The first book in the series is fantastic, and I think this book is going to be even better.
I have another confession: I’ve had a modern royalty trilogy in mind that I’ve wanted to write for a long time. It’s remained on the back burner, but I’m seriously considering it as a project for next year.
What about you? Do you enjoy reading CCR royalty books? Do you have a favorite you’d like to recommend?

Hi Melanie! This avid reader enjoys reading CCR royalty books. My favorite royalty story is Carol Moncado’s Heart of a Prince: Contemporary Christian Romance (Crowns & Courtships Book 1). For March Madness Carol had her readers rank all her royalty stories. She has at least 5 different series, but Heart of a Prince with its unique twist, Jordan Haines caring nature, plus the setting embracing two continents will always remain a favorite. Published in 2017, I reread it last month. I followed the British royal family over the years and grew up with Cinderella plus by granddaughters love Frozen, so I would love to read your royalty stories. Best wishes and Happy Reading.

I have never read a Christian romance book about royalty but I love everything that has to do with princesses or princes! I have seen many Hallmark or similar style movies with that theme I do not remember the names but it is so cute!

Hi Renate! Thanks for your response, and for the recommendation. I’ll have to check that one out. And I’m glad you’d happily read a royalty story if I wrote it. Do you prefer royalty stories with lots of history behind it? Or something that’s a little lighter (like Lori Wick’s The Princess)? Thanks again!

What is the name of the series by Rachel Hauck? What is the name of the first book and what made it good? Can you tell me a little about the story?
I haven’t read many CCR with Royal romance. The only one I can think of is Her Rocky Mountain Highness by Darlene Franklin.
I think if the story was set in Europe or a made up principality I may be more interested than a royal story set in America.
Trixi says
I’ve never read any CCR royalty books, really need to check out Rachel Hauck’s books though. I’ve heard a lot of great things about her writing.
The only books I’ve read involve princesses in medieval times, those are Jody Hedlund’s YA (young adult) ones: The Lost Princesses series (Evermore, Foremost, and Hereafter) and The Fairest Maidens series (Beholden, Beguiled and Besotted). She has another medieval YA series that I need to read too :-)

Yes, I read Hannah Currie’s Daughters of Peverell trilogy, too. Though a bit on the speculative side, they were definitely Christian. I do like a royalty romance every once in a while. Maybe not as my main bread and butter, but definitely a dessert every so often.
Shelia Hall says
I am new to this genre.
Ellie says
YES!!! I love royalty stories. They are a great escape from reality. My favorite is The Princess by Lori Wick.
Debra J Pruss says
I love to hear about royalty. I have not been reading a lot this year. I cannot give you a book title at this time. God bless you.
Melanie D Snitker says
Her series is called True Blue Royal, and the first book is called “To Love a Prince.” The story was memorable with amazing characters. I love it when an author makes the supporting characters just as lovable as the main hero and heroine. Her stories are not set in America, though she often will pull one of the characters from America. I also like how Rachel weaves an underlying story throughout the whole series.
Melanie D Snitker says
Thanks for the suggestions, Trixi!
Melanie D Snitker says
There are some fun books in the genre for sure!

I do love CCR! I honestly don’t think I can pick one favorite. I’ve loved Rachel Hauck’s books as well as Carol Moncado’s. I think my first CCR boom was probably The Princess by Lori Wick. Maybe I enjoy them because what little girl doesn’t dream of meeting her own handsome prince someday?
