I’m the first to admit that I read to escape. I want happy, comforting books that let me leave the cares of the day behind. To me, Christian romance is perfect. Make it a Christian Christmas romance and it’s even better. Though there may be big obstacles to overcome, I know that in the end, the couple will find their happily ever after. And I know I’ll be reminded of the best comfort a heart can know—the assurance of God’s love.
But this year, I went looking for even more. I wanted to find Christmas books that offered God’s love, human love, and an adorable pet! I asked my fellow authors here at Inspy Romance for suggestions and here’s my new To Be Read pile! Perhaps you’ll find a book you might enjoy as well!
Puppy Love and Mistletoe and Puppy Love and Jingle Bells by Merrillee Whren
Poles Apart by Marion Ueckermann (featuring two Golden Retrievers, one heavily pregnant)
Not Until Christmas Morning by Valerie M. Bodden (featuring a mischievous pet squirrel)
Kittens and Snow Flurries by Lynnette Bonner
If you’ve never read it, you also might enjoy my own Christmas in Abundance, featuring a pregnant chocolate lab, which is available free when you sign up for my newsletter. Just click here!
Wishing you all happy reading and a Christmas filled with the true joy of the season!
Adding to my list thank you.
Thank you for this list. I see some new-to-me books📚

Lots of great suggestions, Thanks
Hope they brighten the season! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you and your family as well, Paula Marie!
I loved Poles Apart and Not Until Christmas morning! I’ll have to check out the others!
I enjoy Christmas stories too! Thanks for the all the recommendations. Merry Christmas to you!
Ooo, more stories! Such a Merry Christmas. Thank you, Sally.
Sound good. Thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Yes. I also mainly read to relax – for comfort, to temporarily escape, and to be “picked-up” – especially this year. I am also reading shorter books less than 25 Chapters mostly. I have 3 favorite Action/Adventure series that I am still reading (because they are light and fun) but nothing new-to-me too heavy, serious, political or dark (even if it ends well). I’m more exhausted, this year, before I even begin & just don’t wish to go through the angst & drama. ;)
Thanks for the light suggestions. :D They are always welcome.
Thank you! Merry Christmas!!!
Christmas is all about comfort reads that are sweet, light-hearted & fun! Of course they must include romance, at least for me :-) I also love those that show not only human love, but God’s love as well. Faith-filled stories that not only feed the heart, but the soul too.
I’m putting these on my TBR pile, except yours Sally since I have it already.
Merry Christmas!
Thank you for sharing these great sounding books! I will definitely look for them. Have a Great week and stay safe.
Thank you for sharing this! Have a merry Christmas!
A book with a squirrel sounds good to me. I fell in love with them when I was in Canada. We don’t have them here and I would get so excited (To me seeing a squirrel, chipmunk, raccoon would be like my American/Canadian friends seeing a Kangaroo, wallaby on a walk if you were visiting me. I still love seeing them expectantly but don’t get as excited as I did with squirrels)
Kittens and cats have me too. And they would be interesting in a Christmas book especially is you add a Christmas tree.
You’re welcome, Yvonne! Merry Christmas!
Hope you enjoy them, Trudy! Merry Christmas!
You’re welcome! Merry Christmas to you as well, Megan!
You are welcome! Merry Christmas, Lincoln, and happy writing in 2021!
Merry Christmas to you as well, Lucy!
You are very welcome, Penelope! You and are on the exact same page in what we are looking to read. Normally I’m fine with a book that has dark sections if it ends well. Not this year. I want a book that will bring me smiles all the way! Best wishes for a wonderful, restful, Christmas filled with joy!
Thank you!!
“Faith-filled stories that feed the soul”–Amen!!
Hope they bring you a smile, Alicia! You stay safe too!
Thank you, Marilene!
I had no idea there were no squirrels in Australia! You definitely need a book with them, then! They are so cute! :) And kittens and Christmas trees, lol–been there, done that! Came home to two little mewing ornaments!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thank you! May God bless you in 2021!
It made me laugh AusJenny that you would like a book with squirrels, chipmunks and raccoons. Wow, I wish I could share our backyard balcony with you. We really love to feed the birds, but those other three groups always take over and eat up all the birdseeds. The raccoons even will dig to the bottom of my planted sunflower seeds and dig them out leaving the balcony in a mess. If we could get a passport, we would send them right on to Australia to you. Happy New Year 2021 everyone.
