I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas. As I write this, it is exactly one week before the big day. Since I don’t deal well with being too busy because I get overwhelmed and shutdown, I’ve been careful to keep things low key. My boys arrived home over the weekend and we went to see the new Starwars movie together–loved it. I look forward to spending the week alternating between writing and spending time with my boys. It’s not often we are all home at the same time so I will treasure the next couple of weeks.
The end of the year is often a time of reflection, and I’ve done my fair share of reflecting on 2017. I began the year thinking I was going to write exclusively indie and ended the year with a three book contract and still writing independently lol. I’m officially a hybrid. :)
I tend to be goal oriented and although this past year was extremely full and honestly too busy, I’m pleased with my accomplishments. I re-published five books and wrote and published two new ones. I have my next indie book up on Amazon for pre-order and the first book in my new series for my publisher is ready to turn in. Yes, I’ve been busy! I’m looking forward to slowing down in 2018.
It’s not healthy to be as busy as I was. I’ve given myself permission to be less productive in regards to writing and focus more on relationships and good health. In 2018 I will only publish three books. All but one of the books that will release in 2018 are written, but I must write at least two because my next book is due to my publisher in September, and I also want to release a Christmas book next year–it’s become a tradition for me to release a Christmas book every year.
What about you? Will you be making any changes in the new year, or are you happy with how things are going? I’m not one for making resolutions, but if you are and want to share go for it.

Hi Kimberly, enjoy the time with your family. My boys are still little (7 and 9 yrs old) but already I see how quickly they are growing- soon, it will be me looking forward to them coming home for holidays!!
We are away with family at the moment and I am enjoying having my in-laws to watch the boys in the mornings so I can go for a run/walk/cycle- that is something I would love to keep up with when the busyness of work resumes next year. Time with family will remain my priority, as well as keeping up regular physical activity each day.
Blessings:)

It’s always fun when we have all of our children under the same roof. I’ve never liked New Year’s resolutions, so I don’t really have any. But I do have a large stack of books that I want to read! Even that order gets rearranged from time to time.

Hi Kimberly! I am not one to make New Year’s resolutions. Being retired, I take one day at a time to enjoy family and friends. Enjoy watching our four grandkids ages 12, 10, 4, & 1 develop and grow. Glad they live nearby and we see them weekly. When the weather permits, we enjoy our monthly excursions to have lunch with out of town friends and family. Happy New Year!

Hi, Wemble. Your boys are at such fun ages! Those were great times for us.
I echo your desire to stay physically active. My parents got me a fitbit this year for Christmas, and I’m already using it to help me with my activity level.
Have fun with your family.

Hi, Becky. I love that readers have stacks of books waiting for them. Before ebooks I was always at the library looking for my next read. The Christian fiction section at our local library is small though and within a year or two I had read everything they had. Since the onset of ebooks I never run out of books to read. :)
Happy reading!

I’ve never been much for New Year’s resolutions either :-) I just try to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading when He convicts me about something. Have a great new year!

That is a wonderful way to operate, Margaret! You have a great new year too. Blessings.

The biggest change I’m hoping to make in the new year is to reduce my overall stress levels. I think that will go a long way to helping everything else.
It sounds like you’ve got some good plans for 2018. I hope all goes smoothly!
