It’s here!!!! (cue excited screams)
My first Love Inspired book is out in the bookish world in ebook, print, and Large print. This is such a dream come true as I’ve tried multiple times in the past to write for them and the time and my writing finally worked out to where I got a contract for my novel, An Unlikely Proposal. I’m sharing an excerpt below and giving you a chance to win a $10 Amazon gift card. Happy reading!
Excerpt
“Let’s get married.”
Trinity Davis gaped at her best friend. “Omar, you can’t be serious. I just came over to vent, not for you to suggest some harebrained idea.”
Okay, not completely true. She did want a solution to her problem, but not that. Never that. She still had nightmares of standing in white all alone at the altar. Ever since that humiliating event—one that should have been the happiest day of her life—she’d steered clear of romance.
Besides, marriage wouldn’t give her a new job. Wouldn’t provide the health insurance she so desperately—
Okay, so Omar did solve that dilemma with his absurd suggestion.
“Look, Trinity. Bluebonnet is a small town. What are the odds of you finding another job here? Would you want to move away just to find one?”
She frowned, hating his sound logic.
“You can’t mess around with your health. You need insurance.” His lips turned downward, and his goatee shifted with the movement. “Your insulin has to cost a pretty penny.”
Another strike for logic. “They’re offering me a plan where I’d only have to pay the premiums.” Being a Type 1 diabetic meant going without insulin was not an option. Granted, she’d almost had a heart attack at the price of the insurance.
“And how can you afford that if you have no job?”
It was like Omar could read her mind, which was certainly possible considering they’d been friends for over twenty years. “I don’t know.” She shrugged, trying to keep her emotions at bay. Being laid off had never entered her thoughts as a possibility. “If I want to keep paying rent, something has to give.” She stuffed down a sigh as she mentally calculated her lack of income and growing expenses.
“Exactly.” Omar sat back, giving the porch swing a gentle push. He sipped his sweet tea as if he’d done his job for the day and solved the world’s problems.
About the Book
Their friendship can survive almost anything…
For two best friends,
marriage could be their greatest test yet…
Trinity Davis must not have heard firefighter Omar Young correctly. Did her handsome widowed best friend just suggest they get married? Omar needs a mom for his adorable little girls, and it’ll fix Trinity’s financial woes. But saying “I do” isn’t just business. Especially when the only vow they’re in danger of breaking is their promise to not fall in love…

Toni, I am so excited to see you as a first time Love Inspired author!! Congrats on that, how very thrilling for you :-)
An Unlikely Proposal has one of my very favorite troupes…marriage-of-convenience. I see more and more authors delving into it in contemporary fiction and I am just eating it up! I love historical with that theme, so to set it in today’s world would be more challenging I would think. Your book is definitely one I want to read :-) Oh and by the way, Trinity is my 6 year old grand-girls name, so I already love your character!
I cut soda out years ago to eat more healthy. In the past, my favorites have been Coke, Vanilla Coke, Strawberry Fanta, A&W Cream Soda and Root beer, and Jarritos Pinapple soda (Mexican). Though the latter, I will have every once in a while when my husband and I go to our favorite Mexican restaurant. Oh, and there’s a brewery near where my husband works that makes some of the BEST homemade root beer! He will bring a couple of cans home every once in a while so we can have root beer floats….yummy!
denise says
Congratulations! Happy Book Release!
I love a Coke, the real thing. Once in a while a Cheerwine which is a cherry soda from North Carolina–no alcohol.
Penelope says
Congratulations on the upcoming release!
I’m not a soda gal, preferring sparkling mineral water or coffee. However, as a child we were treated to A&W root beer floats once or twice a summer. I have fond memories of that. Now, I prefer sparkling mineral water ice cream floats, if temped, instead.
Michelle says
Congratulations, Toni! I like Coke Zero.
Trixi says
Denise, I tried Cheerwine years ago and really enjoyed it! We have a old time candy/toy shop here in town that also sells old fashioned sodas in glass bottles. I love seeing all the different varieties!
