I spent this last week at the Romance Writers of America national conference in San Antonio. This conference is where writers from those brand new to the craft extremely well-known New York Times bestsellers unite to share their love for romance. Among other things, I signed books along with 500 other authors at the annual Literacy signing, attended workshops to hone my craft and learn more about the publishing industry and talked shop with fellow inspirational romance authors. Other highlights include meeting with a Harlequin Love Inspired editor over lunch and spending face-to-face time with my wonderful agent.
As writers, we are always striving to learn more about our craft so that every one of our books is better than the last. The publishing industry is always in a state of flux and we as writers have to be aware of the winds of change or be left behind.
But the conference wasn’t all hard work. Amazon hosted a party with quite a few cute cowboys mingling among the guests. And writing for Harlequin definitely has its perks—the world’s best dance party, complete with every kind of dessert imaginable and a fantastic DJ that had everyone on their feet.
So that was my week. How was yours?
