Happy Black History month!!
I thought I’d put a little twist on talking about Christian contemporary romance to highlight a few amazing reads written by Black christian authors. I haven’t read all of these books, but I have read all of these authors and look forward to finishing their backlist (someday I will tackle my TBR pile, but it is not this day). The great thing is many of these authors have 10+ books on their backlists. You’ll be reading them for years to come. So in no particular order, here we go.
All She Dreamed by Rhonda McKnight
This is Rhonda’s latest book. It’s book nine in the Bennett family series so you can definitely start at book one if you want. (Book one is on my TBR pile right now.) She has tons of books to read and choose from including one releasing later this year from Thomas Nelson (also on my TBR pile thanks to Netgalley).
As Long as I Cling by Kim Cash Tate
I love this series and anything Kim Cash Tate writes, so including her latest book in A Promises of God series was a no brainer. This book can stand on its own but you’ll definitely want to meet the rest of the crew in this series.
Raspberry Kisses by Cecelia Dowdy
Cecelia has some yummy books (titles, pictures, details inside, etc). I picked Raspberry Kisses as it’s the first in her Baker Romance series. Enjoy!
To Win a Prince by Toni Shiloh
Since I’m the one creating a post, I suppose I should recommend one of my own. ;) To Win a Prince is one of my favorite books. I love Iris, a bubbly heroine that makes me lol. I also really love Ekon, the hero in need of redemption.
With Every Breath by Natasha D. Frazier
I love this series as well! There’s just something about the scenery, the characters, and the writing that compelled me til the last page. This is book one in the series so be sure to check out the rest as well.
Dream Come True by Vanessa Miller
This is another good read. Vanessa has tons of books in her backlist so if you love this one, there are plenty more to read. She also has some women’s fiction books from Thomas Nelson if you love that genre as well.
Have y’all read any of these books before? What about the authors? I could have listed more but was trying to keep the post sweet. Be sure to tell me your favorite Black author in the comments who writes Christian contemporary romance!

Hi Toni, thanks for all the suggestions, I will definitely be adding to my TBR list! I haven’t read any of the authors you’ve listed apart from you and Kim Cash Tate, so looking forward to trying some new ones.

I’ve read all of Cecelia’s, I think. I love her books. Except they make me hungry 🤣

Right? It’s like you need to have a snack handy while reading.
TONI SHILOH says
Hope you enjoy the others too!

Hi Toni! Happy Black History Month! This retired high school English / German teacher enjoys reading books that embrace other cultures. As a teen I worked in a German/ Swiss bakery, therefore I enjoyed Cecelia Dowdy’s Baker Romance Series.
I also enjoyed your romance In Search of a Prince. The theme of In Search of a Prince is LOVE is always a CHOICE – whether friends, family or romantic relationships. This avid reader enjoyed the fictional Nigerian setting, culture, language, royalty, and cuisine. Having had friends that were missionaries in Nigeria, Toni Shiloh wrote a believable story with a modern monarchy twist. The Contemporary Christian Romance novel had this retired high school English teacher research more information on this West African nation, its geography, politics, languages, and religions. A page turning story that had me reading through the night, with relatable characters, descriptive writing, some unexpected twists, and a believable resolution.
Best wishes for February and its many important celebrations – Ground Hog Day, Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day, Black History Month, National Library lovers’ Month, Children’s Dental Health Month, and American Heart Month. Just to name a few.
TONI SHILOH says
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I’m also really excited about National Library Lovers’ Month and a few others you named. :)

TONI SHILOH says
I’ve read Rose! Definitely a great pick!

I have read several of Cecelia Dowdy early books Her first HP ones I actually got to read to review some of them and loved them all. I have her baker series books but haven’t read them. They came out when reading was harder. But I do get her newsletter.
I have read others over the years not all CCR. and have enjoyed them. (And I have read both your royalty books).
I like reading a wide range of books and authors etc. Every one brings their own unique voice.

I haven’t read any of those books but I have your book in paperback but haven’t gotten around to read it yet as I have been really busy as I’m a caregiver for my 95 year old grandpa .

Thank you for sharing. I do have a few in my TBR, but off the top of my head, I cannot tell you who they are at this moment. My mind is still confused from losing my Mom last month. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.

Yes! It’s so fun to read about others.
