It’s my birthday in a couple of days, so I have birthdays on the brain. I had a big party for my fortieth birthday a few years ago, but since this one isn’t a milestone, we’ll most likely have a quiet celebration at home.
Books make the best Christmas and birthday gifts, don’t they? And while there are tons of Christmas books (shameless marketing plug: have you checked out my upcoming Christmas book, The Baby’s Christmas Blessing? 😉), I was having a hard time thinking of books that feature birthday celebrations. So, I decided to reach out to my author friends and make a list!
Because if your kids don’t remind you how old you are, how will you ever remember???
😆😆😆
1. All of You by Sarah Monzon
Jacquelyn Rogers can rebuild anything…except the shambles of her past. A restorer of vintage planes, she’s worked hard to earn the reputation of being one of the guys. The last thing she needs is a cocky former Navy pilot fighting his own inner demons stepping in to defend her from dangers she thought she’d outrun long ago.
Birthday bonus: The hero, who is a double amputee, dresses up as a pirate as a special birthday surprise for the heroine’s nephew in order to make his new love happy. Adorable! 😍😍😍
2. The Cowboy’s Mixed-Up Matchmaker by Valerie Comer
It’s been almost fourteen long years since two teens made a pact to marry each other if both remained single at thirty. But the nearer the time comes, the more Lauren steps up her matchmaking game to let her buddy James off the hook. What’s a cowboy to do when the love of his life insists they’re all wrong for each other?
Birthday bonus: Not only do this hero and heroine make a marriage pact on their shared sixteenth birthday, but the book ends on their shared birthday celebration fourteen years later! 🎈🎁🎉
3. A Match to Call Ours by Merrillee Whren
Brittany Gorman needs a job, but nanny to six-year-old twin girls isn’t exactly what she’s looking for. Their single father, Parker Watson, isn’t sure hiring Brittany is the right move, but he’s desperate for help. Soon Brittany is charming the twins and their father as well, but Parker still clings to the bitterness of his past. Can Brittany’s prayers and two little matchmakers soften Parker’s heart and help him find love with his perfect Montana match?
Birthday bonus: This reclusive hero puts the pain of his past aside and faces a former friend who abandoned him in his time of need in order to secure the perfect birthday gift for the heroine! 🐶🌹💖
4. Not Until This Day by Valerie Bodden
Isabel has three simple rules: Keep moving. No friends. No men. It’s the only way to keep herself and her daughter safe. But when she arrives in the small town of Hope Springs, she finds that she suddenly wants to break all the rules… especially when it comes to a certain sweet single dad.
Birthday bonus: This swoony hero throws a surprise birthday party for the heroine! 🥳🎂💕
5. Muskoka Blue by Carolyn Miller
Okay, I need to spend a little more time on this one because Canada! And hockey! And a beautiful romance between “an ice princess with a broken heart” and “a pro hockey player with a secret.”
Sounds so good, doesn’t it? I had the pleasure of reading an advance copy of this book, and it is just fabulous!!!
Aw, even the cover of this one is just adorable!
First off, the setting! I grew up in Toronto and have spent time at the gorgeous lakes in the Muskoka region, so it was fun reading a book set there. The clear water, the thick pines, the cry of a loon… it made me homesick for the summers I spent at overnight camp in Algonquin Park!
Second, the hockey! We mostly see Dan during the off-season, so you don’t need to worry that you’re going to be reading about all kinds of hockey moves, but it was fun for this die-hard Maple Leafs fan to read about a Maple Leafs player. Especially one who is part of a Zoom Bible study specifically for Christian NHL players. 😊
I’m not going to tell you too much about the romance because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but suffice it to say that it’s real, and sweet, and I wanted things to work out for these two so badly!!!
This one’s on preorder at the moment. Reserve your copy here!
Birthday bonus: The poor hero has lost all hope… until the very end of the day on his birthday! 🎂🎉🎀
So there you have it! Five great contemporary Christian romance novels featuring birthday celebrations!
For the chance to win a paperback copy of my book, The Billionaire’s Secret (which just took first place in the contemporary romance category of the 2022 Selah Awards—w00t w00t!), tell me: What’s your favorite book featuring a birthday? And if you can’t think of one right now, tell me what books you want for your next birthday!!!
(Giveaway is open to US and international entrants. Deadline: July 10, 2022)
I can’t think of one right now. Since my birthday is in December I always want Christmas books. Melody Carlson always has a good one at that time.
Happy Birthday. Prayers that it is safe and fun and full of love and laughter with your favorite people. I used to love the precious birthday cards I received from my two kiddos. Yes they were very honest but loving too. I am looking forward to picking up: Inventions of the Heart book 2 from Mary Connealy / Talulla book 9 Love Train series from Winnie Griggs / Enriched book 4 Knights of Brethren by Jody Hedlund
I can’t think of another book with a birthday, to be honest. I just celebrated my birthday, and there are too many books I want to put on here! lol!
Happy Birthday Meghann! This retired teacher reads mostly e-Books, so I enjoy Amazon gift cards for my birthday, anniversary, and Christmas. I do purchase books for my 5 & 8 year old granddaughters, since most of the kids books were for my 3 sons and 2 grandsons. I always have 5 – 6 books on preorder. Looking forward to Elizabeth Maddrey’s and Valerie Comer’s new series. Best wishes. Enjoy your special day and the sunshine.
Happy Birthday! And thanks for the mention of Matchmaker!
I’m glad you’re able to find a good Christmas AND birthday book when you want one!!!
Thanks, Lori! And those all sound like great books!!!
I know, Trudy! I had a hard time thinking of books with a birthday, too! But I love it that your TBR is too long to list!!!

Aw, that’s lovely, Mary! It sounds like your daughter has good taste in books!
Happy (early) birthday Meghann!! I can’t think of any books with a birthday in them, but I’m sure I’ve read some…lol!
I have far too many books I want to read to list here….and I also have many more on my physical bookshelf that I need to read. A true reader’s dilemma :-D
Your book cover for your Christmas book is simply adorable! I love a big tough looking guy with a small baby sleeping on him, it just melts my heart :-) I’m putting that on my must-get list for my birthday in August!
P.S. No need to enter me as I’ve read “The Billionaire’s Secret”….congrats on the Selah award! A well deserved win. I sure loved it! :-)
Congratulations on your fabulous award. Happy early birthday. I cannot think of a book with a birthday except the Bible. My mind is blank tonight. My birthday is not until February so I am not even sure what books will be coming out that far in advance. I have been reading some ARCs by fabulous writers. My TBR pile is so many. Thank you for sharing. God bless you.
Thanks so much, Trixi! And it’s hard to think of books with birthdays in them, isn’t it??? That’s why I needed to make this list! ;)
Thank you, Debra! I’m glad you’ve had the chance to read some good ARCs! It’s always fun to get a peek at a book before it hits the shelves!!!
Happy birthday. Thanks for featuring A Match to Call Ours.
Happy Birthday ! I can’t think of any books featuring birthdays, but I can come up with a list of books I would like for my birthday. I would like to read more of the Independence Island series. Plus many others I have read about at various times. Oh, those books you write about here would be good to read too. It’s so hard to choose…
Happy Birthday! There are so many great books that I would want for my birthday! But some that come to mind right now are any of Jody Hedlund’s amazing books or Tara Grace Ericson’s books, or Mandi Blake, just too many great books to mention
Any sweet mom who finds her true love near her birthday.
Thank you! My pleasure :)
Thanks, Martha! It’s DEFINITELY hard to choose!!!
Thank you, Angeline! I have one of Jody Hedlund’s books on my TBR right now, too!
Aw, that’s a sweet kind of story, Amy!

“Happy Birthday!” I can’t think of a book right now. My birthday is coming very soon and I would love any book with an HEA.
Thanks, Kendra!!! Books with holidays AND birthdays are a lot of fun!
Thank you, Alicia! Happy almost birthday to you!!!
Happy Birthday Meghann. I read a book about a year ago, Homecoming by Cathy Kelly. It was a character’s 40th birthday party, it wasn’t a surprise party, but the character’s Sister and her best friend arrange for the man of her dreams to be there as a surprise. Both characters think that they fancy other people, but they only have eyes for each other. Hope you have a nice birthday.
That sounds like a great book, Jayne! I’ll have to check it out! ❤️
Happy birthday! I’m currently drawing a blank, so I think I want some of Carolyn Miller’s books (you’re right! Her newest series sounds so good!)
Thanks, Priscilla! I’ve read three of her Original Six series, and they’re all great! Excellent choice!
Can’t think of any with that them. But if I should win, any Love Inspired book will do. I can’t go wrong with these. Thanks for this opportunity.
Singcerely,
Nancy Luebke
