That is hot! This was the temperature reading on my daughter’s car as I drove it home from the airport. Her flight home from a business meeting was canceled a whole day ahead of time because of approaching bad weather. She rebooked her flight to arrive at a different airport than the one she flew out of, so I had to retrieve her car from the original airport.
Weather can affect our lives in many ways. I like to use weather in my books to affect the lives of the characters. Sometimes I use weather to reflect a character’s mood. Sunny and happy. Stormy and sad. Rain that forces a hero and heroine to share an umbrella. I have written about a tornado, hurricane and blizzard that have changed the way characters view their world and the people around them.
There are no natural disasters in the first book of my Village of Hope series, SECOND CHANCE REUNION, but there is one in book #3 that doesn’t have a title or release date yet. The second book in the series, NURSING THE SOLDIER’S HEART, also has a natural disaster that sends the hero’s life in a completely different direction. That book will be available on July 21 at many book retailers. I will be giving away a copy of book #1 of the series to one commenter. I will announce the winner tomorrow.

I always love a soldier hero in books. I should since I’m married to one. I appreciate when they are portrayed in a positive light and also delve realistically with the effects of war. I look forward to your July release of Nursing the Soldiers Heart.

Thanks, Terrill. I hope you find my soldier realistic.

We all need second chances and the Community of Hope sounds like the place.

A timely post with all the rain and flooding going on around us. We have a weekend trip planned that might get canceled because roads are being closed. I think natural disasters add a lot to a story. Of course, most of us create our own disasters and since I’m pretty good at that, I like to read about those kind too. All three books sound good!

The Village of Hope series is all about second chances. Thanks for stopping by the blog.

There definitely has been some really bad weather across the US lately. I know Texas has been hit hard. It seems like Texas either has no rain or too much rain. Thanks for your comment.

Thankfully I’ve never been a part of any natural disaster! I grew up in Illinois where there are quite a number of tornadoes but I don’t ever remember one touching down anywhere near where we lived. Cities surrounding us did though and I’ve seen the devastation a tornado can cause. And I’ve also seen neighbors pulling together to help each other in such a disaster. It’s very heart-warming to see!
I have also read a few books with natural disasters in them & a few with fires (of course firemen too!). I always like to see how the author handles these in their books. How do the characters react to each other, how do they help one another and etc. Makes for a great storyline!
I can’t wait for your newest one “Nursing the Soldier’s Heart” to come out in July. It sounds like another fantastic story. I read the excerpt (or maybe it was a chapter or two) you had on your website and it is one I will be looking to purchase :-) I do like stories with soldiers, ex or current ones. In my mind, they are the real heroes in life!
No need to enter me into the running for “Second Chance Reunion” as I already have a copy of that! And by the way, 115 degrees is way too hot for me….whew! It must be that Arizona weather. I like our mild weather here on the Oregon coast, I don’t even mind the wet winters. No snow to shovel, lol!

Thanks for stopping by with a comment. I’ve lived where there have been tornadoes and hurricanes, but I’ve never been in the direct path of either. They’ve come close. I like it hot. Good thing.
