It seems like I’m always looking for something: the perfect dining room table, vintage pink Pyrex in good condition, the “right” color of paint for various rooms in my house, a pair of shoes that are equal parts style and comfort…and the list goes on. (and on and on)
As I get older (and hopefully wiser) I find that I also seek other things as well. On the top of my list is peace. It’s hard to find sometimes, isn’t it? The world can be a loud place. Life can get crazy.
I filled in my summer calendar this morning and it brought on a little bit of panic. And a strong second cup of coffee.
This is my first summer as a wife. My first summer as a stepmom. My first summer as a chicken and goat farmer, complete with a barn and plans to set up at a local farmers market on a few Saturdays.
Then there’s my full-time job, which I love. Like I really, really enjoy what I do to the point that sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with a work idea or solution. (I am the online marketing manager for a non-profit that assists transplant patients with fundraising)
Not to mention writing–I turned in a proposal to my agent just last week! And I’m also working on a new series to release in the near future.
Whew.
So where is the peace? If you’re a fellow introvert, you’ll understand my great need for some peace and quiet. That’s hard to find though, amidst all the things that fill my days.
So I’m turning to you…for some ideas. I know I’m not the only one juggling a lot. I’m always curious about how other people handle it. I have a friend who says getting up an hour before the rest of her house is where she finds peace. She spends that hour with her Bible and her coffee and it makes all the difference. I’m sure there are others of you who have suggestions, and I’d love to hear them!
So tell me…how do you find peace in a busy life?

love me some vintage pyrex! I find peace by going for a walk every day. I leave my family (whom I love) at home and resist the urge to bring anything to listen to. I do my best thinking while I walk.

Annalisa, I love walking with my husband around our neighbourhood. We have a lake close by, open fields in the other direction, and a lovely Nature Reserve (with kangaroos and other native animals) to explore in a nearby suburb. I can definitely find peace in nature :) ,
