Hi everyone! Lee Tobin McClain here, just coming down from the high of the RWA conference in New York City. Writers generally have a non-glamorous life; I spend a lot of time in yoga pants or PJs, writing madly while the dust accumulates around me. But every now and then, I get to have a super glamorous week.
Last week was that week. The Romance Writers of America had their annual conference in New York City, a mere 8 hour train ride away from my home in the Pittsburgh area. So off I went to meet old and new friends, confer with my editor and agent, and dress up for some fancy events. Here are a few pictures:

Met RITA finalist Katy Lee…

Goofed around with fellow Love Inspired writers Janet Dean and Tina Radcliffe

Had lunch with my editor Shana Asaro and fabulous historical writers Danica Favorite and Jean Gordon

and went to the Harlequin black-and-white party at the Waldorf Astoria!
Now it’s back to work at home on the couch! But I have good memories … and a few new story ideas. I do like to travel, but I am always glad to get home. New York is a little too hectic for me!
How about you? How do you feel about travel vs. staying home?
Looks like a lot of fun!:)
It’s fun to travel, but the best part is coming back home with a lot of fabulous memories and hopefully some good photos that you can share. Loved seeing you in NYC.
Yes, Kimberly, it was a blast . . . but Merrillee’s right, it’s good to come back home. Merrillee–you are clearly a woman who knows how to party–fun to see you on the dance floor!
It was great to see you there and meet you in person. So sorry I got stuck and couldn’t find you guys for lunch. Looking forward to connecting with you more in the coming year. Blessings. Belle
Beautiful pictures!
Definitely looks like fun!
I enjoy going out but I don’t like big crowds. You looked so nice Lee and I’m glad you had fancy good time. Great pictures! Was this your first time or have you gone before? Jenny
Glad you had such a good time! I’m a real home-lover… unless the alternative is camping by the ocean. Then I’m there!
It was great to see you, Sandy. Sorry I missed you this time Hallee. Jenny, it was not my first time, but it’s a much different experience going to the conference as a Harlequin author–they have amazing parties!
Hi Lee, I went to RWA last year and it’s a fun conference. I love travelling but it’s always nice to return home :)
I guess I’m torn between loving to travel and being a home-body! It’s wonderful to travel and see/do new things, but at the same time, it’s nice to get home. NYC would be a bit too busy, hectic & noisy for my taste! I loved seeing all the great pictures here on this post and a few of our other authors on FB. It does look like everyone had a great time together :-) What a wonderful time to sort-of get away from it all, dress up a bit, have some fun and enjoy the company of other writers such as yourself! Glad you had a good time Lee (and all the others that went too!)
