Valentine’s Day is coming up this month! Is this a holiday that you celebrate with anyone special? My husband and I don’t make a huge deal out of it, but enjoy any reason to be thankful for our own love story.
For obvious reasons, the day seems perfect for those of us who read and write stories filled with romance!
I started thinking about the couples in my contemporary romance novels. After their happy endings, how might they celebrate Valentine’s Day? Then, my graphic designer brain jumped in and envisioned the valentine cards and sentiments that some of these couples might exchange with one another. I thought it might be fun to show you some of what I came up with!
Be sure to read to the end for a special gift from me to you – a few fun bookish valentines.
From Someplace Familiar (Laurel Cove Romance, Book 1)
If Livy, an artist, painted a valentine for Jack, a contractor who builds houses, it might look like this:
From Someone Found (Laurel Cove Romance, Book 3)
Here’s a valentine that Eli might give to Quinn, who first met when he found her lost and injured on the Appalachian Trail:
From Gwen & the Three Dates (a novella originally in the Once Upon a Summer Collection)
There’s no doubt this is the valentine Gwen would give to Ben, her best-friend-turned-leading-man:
I’m excited to be releasing Gwen & the Three Dates on its own later this year, so keep an eye out for that! It’s a super fun contemporary romantic comedy set in South Port, North Carolina.
I was having so much fun creating these fictional valentines that I couldn’t stop. Here are two fun Valentine’s Day designs perfect for giving to someone in your life who loves books as much as you do. Press and hold or right click to save (depending on the device you’re using).

Love the cards!! I used to take Mom and Daddy out for lunch or dinner on Valentine’s Day, then kept it up with Mom after Daddy passed, until Mom go to the point where she didn’t really enjoy going out. Then, I’d buy her flowers and/or chocolate. Now that they’re both gone, it’s just another day.

I love these cards! What a great way to capture the essence of the characters and their story! While I don’t do much on social media, I can see these (and others like them) being used to promote books, especially at this time of year. Thanks for sharing!

These are so cute! I love making cards instead of buying them. It’s so much more fun to personalize the message! I would love to see more authors do these ❤️

Yay!! Maybe some of our IR authors will see your note and make some.
