I love the written word. Love it. And I love cards. I send them whenever I can. I like to send cards for no reason.
Recently, I have received cards in the mail.
This one in response to a wedding gift. I love it when young people send cards.
A couple of weeks ago I went through a tragic event with one of my friends. One of my friends knew what was going on and she sent me this card.
My heart was filled with love and friendship after receiving this card. Such a blessing in the midst of heartbreak.
Then 1 week ago today, I spent the day in the emergency room with my father. We found out he has stage 4 cancer. He came home from the hospital, but has a long road ahead with treatments. We are filled with God’s grace and mercy. His prognosis is great. His attitude is awesome and inspiring.
A friend of mine brought this by my day job on Friday. (She also brought chocolate)
Again, the words from this card and the written message on the inside shines love all around. Just like the other two cards.
The written word s such a blessing. Whether it is in a novel, a novella, a short story, a serial, or a card or note.
Do you send cards? Receive cards? Do you think sending cards has become a lost art.
I hope people continue to send cards. They sure do brighten someone’s day.
I’m sorry to hear of all the rough patches in your life right now, Lindi. A card sure does have the ability to brighten someone’s day. I’ve gotten out of the habit of sending them in the past few years, but maybe I should rethink that!
I do send cards once in a while, but not as much as I did say 20 years ago. The ones I want to buy are always too expensive. My mom is a huge card person. She spends hours a Hallmark choosing just the right card for the intended person.
Praying for your Dad, Lindi. I also love to send and receive cards. Though an email letting someone know your are thinking of them works, too, there’s something special about knowing the person cared enough to take time to choose the right card and post it.
Valerie—I go through spurts myself. I do have a box where I have cards, stickers and colored pens and such. It’s always good to have those things on hand. :)
I love the card store!! I spend a lot of time laughing in there as well as choosing cards. I also buy boxes of cards sometimes if I like the sayings and themes.
Hi Autumn, You’re right about the emails. I have received a few during this time and they have meant a lot.
I love cards, too! We don’t get many (and I’m not as good about sending them as I used to be, either) but when they come, it’s always a bright spot in the day.
Hi–you know what is funny? I don’t send Christmas cards. I love receiving them. But for some reason those are the cards I don’t send. :)
I don’t send them as often as I used to, but I try to send a snail mail card whenever I know someone’s having a hard time. There’s something special about getting the kind of mail that you can stick on the front of the fridge (if you’re so inclined) or tuck into the visor of your car (if that’s your thing). Electronic messages still touch the heart, but they don’t engage the senses in the way “real” mail does. Just my two cents. I’m a lover of card-giving (and card-receiving)! :)
I agree.. sending cards and notes from time to time can make someones day and uplift them when they least expect it.
I love to send cards especially when I have time to sit down and write a personal note in them. My husband and I have even made it a habit to pray each day over one or two cards we have received to lift up those who have been so kind as to send us a card.
