In less than a month, my next book releases! EEE!!! Now is when all the nerves and excitement really start kicking in! Putting the final touches on edits and cover and marketing plans–it’s a whirlwind! I’ve started back to work full time this past year, and this is my first book release since then. I’ll be honest–I’m struggling with the balance. Being a momma of four, a full-time employee, and an author is straining me more than a little! But God has been reminding me that HE is my strength and he has called me and equipped me, and is proving SO faithful during this stressful season of “busy.”
So–let me tell you a little book I’m stressing so much about lately! Last year, I was super blessed to be asked to be a part of the Resort to Romance series. Each book will have the same setting — THE BAHAMAS!! And each book will have a similar basic premise — Matchmaking Week!
And since I’m a fan of meddling parents/friends trying to matchmake (I mean–a fan in fiction, not in real life, HA!) I thought I’d take the matchmaking theme to another level–both of my characters are “forced” into going to matchmakers week–Ava is tricked into it, and Sean is guilted into it.
But I don’t want to give away TOO much, so I’ll just throw in a little back-cover-copy here for kicks and giggles. The rest you’ll have to wait until April 2nd to read! You can preorder it now for 99 cents–and for those with Kindle Unlimited, it will be FREE to read, as will all the other books in the series.
He was gifted a trip to the Bahama’s Matchmakers week. She was conned into it.
They’re both determined to leave matchless.
But neither count on losing their heart–
Ava St. James is going to strangle her best friend. Conned into going on a trip to the Bahamas for “Matchmaking” Week, Ava determines to do everything she can to not be matched. She’d soak in the sun and enjoy every minute of her vacation–while completely ignoring whatever poor sap she gets matched with. What she doesn’t expect is to be forced to spend time with her match. She also doesn’t expect her match to be a giant.
Former NFL football player Sean Jackson is only on this trip because he loves his mother–nothing more. Sure, he feels guilty that some woman is paired with him and will be disappointed that he isn’t interested–but that is bound to happen to most of the couples anyway, right? But he never expects a woman like Ava St. James. She is a puzzle–one he shouldn’t want to put together but as the week goes on, he can’t help himself.
Ava refuses to fall for Sean. No way, not going to happen. He is all kinds of wrong for her. Not only is he out of her league, he also scares her more than a little. But little by little, she comes to tolerate him–then even like him a little. Okay, fine, maybe a lot.
Will this unwilling couple end up finding love, or will the past come back to haunt them both?

On another note, as I noted earlier, my life has imploded a little bit with going back to work full-time. In doing so, God has whispered in my heart that I need to adjust my commitments and priorities and let a few things go so I can concentrate on the things He is calling me to do.
InspyRomance is one of those things I’m having to let go. This will be my last post :-( I have SO ENJOYED blogging here and all the camaraderie, but I need to make sure my family is my priority, and I have to be very savvy and strategic about my writing time for this current season in life.
I will greatly miss you all, but will definitely still be an InspyRomance READER and will see you in the comments!
I’m also on Facebook at www.facebook.com/authorkristaphillips or Instagram @kristajeanphillips and would LOVE to connect with you there!! You can also find out about news and new releases by subscribing to my newsletter.
Love you all–Thank you so much for chatting romance with me over the years!

I hope you come back as a guest blogger every once in a while, especially when there´s a new book coming out. Take care and enjoy time with your family.
Renate says
Hi Krista! Matchmaking Week in the Resort to Romance series sounds intriguing. Even though I have been a matchmaker a few times at a person’s request, matchmaking is not for me. Too independent in spirit. I understand about family coming first while juggling a full time job and other commitments. Life today with a growing family is expensive. You will be missed, but I follow you on Facebook so I keep up with you. Best wishes and enjoy your weekend.
Melynda says

Family has to come first and I’m sure you’re doing the best thing by putting them there.

This sounds like a fun book and fun series.
Sad to see you are leaving, but I know you are doing what’s best for you and your family. That is what is important.
Tracey Hagwood says
I’m glad to see you prioritize your family and work commitments. We all want to be that Proverbs 31 woman and “do it all” and do it well. I went to a study on it once and while she did it all, she didn’t do it all at the same time. This is the key point many of us miss, there are seasons for each of the things we want to accomplish. You are choosing wisely, so I wanted to encourage you in that.
I just finished the 3rd book in the Resort series last night and I’m looking forward to your story. Such a fun series!
Lori Smanski says
Congratulations on your book. Yes mam, you are busy. Absolutely, listen to God and put your family first. If the Lord leads, some things will be picked up later in life. Maybe others will take its place. I put my family first and both of our kiddos are well balanced young adults now. Now I can spend my time quilting and other crafts knowing I obeyed God and concentrated on the precious kids He allowed me to raise for Him. Blessings coming your way.
Valerie Comer says
We’re going to miss you! But please, take care of yourself and your family. This looks like a fun series – I’ve pre-ordered yours because I know I’ll love it. :)

Oh in real life I’m not much of a matchmaker at all!!! But it is fun in fiction, LOL!!!
Thanks so much for your support! I really appreciate it!
Krista Phillips says
Thanks, Melynda! I hope you enjoy it!!
Agree, family is #1 (well, #2… Jesus is #1!!) I’ve always felt that pursuing my dream of writing was a good thing for my family and my kids–to show them there is nothing you can’t do if it was what God has called you to. And I still believe that–just need a little more balance right now!
Krista Phillips says
Agreed! Thanks so much, Laura! I hope you enjoy the book!!!
Krista Phillips says
Yes, it is! Thanks so much, Susan!
Krista Phillips says
I like to point out that the Proverbs 31 woman also had SERVANT GIRLS — i.e. MAIDS/NANNYS. It made me feel much better when I realized that–because my dream has always been to hire someone to clean my house!! LOL
And I totally agree, there are many seasons and I try to embrace each as they come. I’m entering a new one, and it is scary and fun and exhilerating all at the same time. God has plans–and I know I can trust them!
Hope you enjoy the book!!!
Krista Phillips says
Thanks so much, Lori! I’m excited about taking a step back and breathing for a bit, but also excited to write for the JOY of writing again for a little while. Back when it was just me and Jesus and fictional characters, not worrying about what an audience would think or what is currently sellable on the market. I think that is where the BEST stories are written anyway.
Krista Phillips says
Thanks so much, friend!!! I DO hope you enjoy it!!!
And thanks so much for being such a support for me. I really appreciate it!!!
Krista Phillips says
Thanks so much, Julie!!!!! How well I have balanced is definitely something that is “in the eye of the beholder” sometimes, as I feel like I’ve dropped more than I’ve balanced the last 8 ish years! But God is always faithful to pick up those broken things I’ve dropped and they turn out better than they had before! He is SO good like that!!!
Krista Phillips says
Oh how fun!!!! I’ve had to write by using a lot of inspiration from pictures — because I’ve never been! A definitely bucket list item!!!
Krista Phillips says
Thanks so much, Diana!!!! I hope you enjoy it!!!
Jessica B. says

I hope you enjoy it!!
Krista Phillips says
Agreed!! I totally lived vicariously through my characters!! I even put one of them on a dreamy over-the-water bungalow– just because the idea of it is quite dreamy! (Although I looked up the price of one of those things and, YIKES!!! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to afford that– and would feel guilty spending that kind of money even if I did, HA!!)
And yeah for newsletters!!! Thanks so much!!
