Narelle here. I’m delighted to welcome Pete and Mia to Inspy Romance today and share our conversation from a café in the beautiful seaside town of Merimbula, on the South Coast of NSW in Australia.
Narelle sipped her latte. “Thanks for making the trek south from Sapphire Bay to meet for coffee.”
Pete smiled. “No problem. It’s a nice drive along the coast, but next time we should try and catch up in Sapphire Bay.”
“That works for me.” She turned to Mia. “Is this your first visit to Merimbula?”
Mia nodded. “I’ve seen Billie’s gorgeous photos from when Zach drove my cousin to the airport here in Seaside Proposal.”
“Yes,” Narelle said. “Pete, no pressure to match Zach’s surprise for Billie.”
He laughed. “Zach has connections I don’t have, and I’d prefer to go fishing.”
Mia stirred her frothy cappuccino. “You know, a few months ago I would have disagreed. Now, I look forward to our fishing trips.”
“Our rods are in the Jeep and we brought the boat with us.” He sipped his cappuccino and ate a spoonful of chocolate mud cake. “We’re heading out on Merimbula Lake later today, if you’re interested in coming along?”
Narelle shook her head. “Thanks for the offer. I’m really not very good at fishing and I already have plans. But, I do have a few questions to ask you both on behalf of our readers. How did you first meet, and did you ever imagine that you’d end up getting married?”
Pete widened his eyes. “I had a girlfriend when I first met Mia at Beachside Community Church in Sydney. Mia and I were friends back then, nothing more.”
Mia held her cappuccino mug between both hands, her sapphire and diamond engagement ring catching the sunlight. “Well, I was single and only twenty when we first met. Pete was my very secret crush, and I did my best to hide my feelings.”
He grinned. “You did a good job. I was clueless, and I do remember thinking you were too beautiful and sophisticated for a guy like me.”
“Really? I didn’t think I was on your radar at all when I attended Beachside?”
“Mia, all the guys noticed you. How could they not?”
Mia held his warm gaze. “There’s only one guy I’m interested in.”
He squeezed Mia’s hand. “I’m glad to hear that. Anyway, I’ve known Zach for years, and Mia crossed my path again at Zach’s thirtieth birthday party. At that time, I was single and Mia had a fiancé.”
“Yes,” Mia said. “The timing wasn’t right until I moved next door to Pete in Sapphire Bay. I do remember chatting with Pete at Billie and Zach’s engagement party and wedding.”
Pete stretched his arms out over his head, relaxing back in his seat. “Our reader friends can read our story, starting in Sapphire Bay, in His Perfect Catch.”
Mia nodded. “I hope they’ll like reading about our romance in the SPLASH! box set.”
“I’m sure they will,” he said.
Narelle finished her latte. “Unfortunately our time together has come to an end. Thanks so much for sharing your story with us. I hope our reader friends enjoy our interview, and they can let me know if they have any questions.”
Mia’s eyes sparkled. “Thanks, Narelle. And, we’d appreciate if you could include us in the next story you set in Sapphire Bay.”
“That’s my plan.” Narelle smiled. “I’m looking forward to writing the next story in my Sapphire Bay series.”
Book Description: Sydney girl Mia Radcliffe borrows her cousin’s beach house in Sapphire Bay, Australia, to escape the scandal surrounding her ex-fiancé. Love kindles during their time together and Mia’s heart is set on returning to Sydney with Pete. When new opportunities arise, Pete and Mia must decide if their love is for keeps.

Hi Narelle. Merimbula looks gorgeous. I adore anything that has to do with sea and ocean. Thanks for introducing us to Mia and Pete. The story sounds great….and intriguing. Now you’ve made me curious as to whether Sapphire Bay is a real place or fictional.

Hi Belle, My family and I love visiting Merimbula. It’s very pretty and a great holiday location :) Sapphire Bay is fictional and inspired by my vacations in seaside towns.

Australia is now definitely on my to-visit place! Narelle, your descriptions of some of the places you have in your book on today’s post (and yes I have purchased my copy of SPLASH) make me want to go there now :-) I can’t wait to read this book. And I love your character interview, gives me a glimpse of what to expect. I’d go fishing in a heart beat with Pete & Mia, I bet those waters are awful blue and beautiful…who doesn’t love a day on the water? Looking forward to reading “His Perfect Catch”!
