USA Today bestselling author Nancy Naigle’s Snickerdoodle recipe:
Christmas Angels Snickerdoodles
Recipe from Nancy Naigle, author of CHRISTMAS ANGELS (2019)
This recipe makes about 18-24 cookies. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Cookie Ingredients
1 cup butter (softened, not melted) 1 tsp cream of tartar
½ cup brown sugar ½ tsp kosher salt
1 egg, plus 1 yolk 1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp allspice
¼ tsp nutmeg
2 ¾ cup flour
Cinnamon Sugar Mixture
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon of allspice
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
2. Mix butter, sugar, and brown sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy, 2-
3 minutes. Add in the egg, the extra yolk, vanilla, baking soda, cream of tartar, salt,
cinnamon and allspice. Mix for 1 minute, scraping the sides as you go.
3. Turn mixer to low and add in flour a little at a time, mixing until just combined. Do
not overmix.
4. In a separate small bowl make your Cinnamon Sugar by combining cinnamon, allspice
and sugar.
5. Make dough balls about 2 tablespoons. Then roll each cookie dough ball into the
cinnamon sugar mixture until coated.
6. Place on baking sheet about 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes, turning cookie
sheet halfway through baking.
Bake only until the edges are slightly golden, the middle may seem soft. If
you want a crunchier version, then cook 1-2 minutes longer.
7. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 3-4 minutes before transferring to a
wire rack to cool completely.
HAPPY BAKING!
Psst ~ Remember, the best part is sharing
About Christmas Angels:
A heartwarming Christmas story filled with the magic and miracles of the holiday season by USA Today Bestselling author, Nancy Naigle. Growing up, Liz Westmoreland dreamed of taking over her grandparents inn located in the small mountain town of Antler Creek only for it to be sold before she ever got the chance. While browsing the internet, she stumbles upon a listing for what looks to be the picturesque inn and it’s set to go to auction. Liz places a bid, and by a miracle, wins the auction. But when she gets there she finds the property in significant disrepair. When Matt Hardy narrowly lost the inn and property that butted his land, he just hoped it wasn’t another city slicker coming to make matters worse after the previous owners gutted the place for an art gallery. But the minute he recognized the sweet, freckle-faced girl from his childhood and heard her plans to reopen the inn, he jumps at the chance to help his childhood crush restore a place where he made so many fond memories. While working on repairs, Liz and Matt discover her grandmother’s collection of angels in one of the cabins. When the angels start mysteriously showing up all over the inn, she begins to look at them as reassurance—that restoring the inn is what she’s meant to do. But when an accident leaves Liz feeling like she made a mistake, will Matt—and the residents of Antler Creek—be able to show Liz that she’s found a home? And possibly true love as well? What Readers are Saying:

Julie:
Thanks, Nancy, for sharing your recipe! Okay, who’s ready to eat cookies and read? I know I am. But first, what’s your favorite Christmas cookie? I love a cookie I grew up with called Crinkles. Leave a comment and have a very Merry Christmas! See you in 2020!
Ausjenny says
I was wondering what a Snickerdoodle was as we don’t have them here but the page to the recipe isn’t working. Will check back later
Mary Preston says
I do love sugar cookies, especially at Christmas time.
Sally Bayless says
I love Snickerdoodles! I have never been able to get my family excited about them. So sad…
Julie Arduini says
Thanks, AusJenny! I’m working on it. Not sure what happened. I wonder if they are an American favorite cookie?
Julie Arduini says
Sugar cookies are amazing! Have a Merry Christmas, Mary!
Julie Arduini says
Sally,
It is the same here. Their loss, right? Have a Merry Christmas!
Lelia (Lucy) Reynolds says
We love snickerdoodles, but my favorite Christmas cookie is a sugar cookie.
Diana says
Grandkids love making painted sugar cookies. We use new washed small paint brushes and then paint rolled out sugar cookies with yolk and food color and a tiny bit of water. They look glazed when they bake. I love peanut kisses, peanut butter cookie with Hershey kiss on top.
Paula Marie says
My family favorite cookie is shell tassies!
Ausjenny says
I think they are An American and parts of Europe.
I remember a few years ago a friend had an exchange student from Finland and she made a special treat they eat at Christmas and it was so yummy but I forget the name.
While I make gingerbread shapes and some other cookies I don’t eat. I think the yoyo bickies (cookies) I make are my favourite. They are easy to make and a little like a shortbread recipe.
I need to do some cooking for Christmas gifts (I have a afternoon tea on Tuesday I have to take food to). I plan to cook something today (Hopefully)
Trudy says
Thank you for the recipe!! I’m going to have to try it!!
Julie Arduini says
I confess since my husband received his dad’s recipes for Italian cookies, I haven’t baked. I sure have ate, though!
Julie Arduini says
Sugar cookies are definitely a Christmas cookie. Snickerdoodles I’ think of as a year-round cookie. They are all good, though! Have a Merry Christmas!
Julie Arduini says
That sounds so fun! I like those Pb cookies. My husband calls them pb blossoms. Have a Merry Christmas!
Julie Arduini says
Paula, you need to clue me in! I have no idea what these are! I’m so curious, Lol!
Julie Arduini says
Trudy, let me know how they are! I’m glad Nancy was able to share. Have a wonderful Christmas season!
Trixi says
You have to have a favorite Christmas cookie?? How about all of them, lol!
I think one of my favorite ones this time of year is the shortbread cookies you get in a tin or package at the store. There are a variety of flavors and I think my top ones are the powdered sugar coated ginger snaps. YUM!! I love gingersnaps in the first place so to coat them with the powdered sugar is pure heaven in my book :-) I also love soft molasses, peanut butter, oatmeal (no raisins) or monster cookies. Really any cookie, I’m not picky when it comes to one of my favorite sweet treats. Thanks for the snikerdoodle recipe, I haven’t made those in a long time. Mine come out just crisp on the outside and soft in the middle.
Now I’m seriously craving cookies and I don’t have any….lol!
Julie Arduini says
Trixi, I know exactly what cookies you mean from the tin. I remember eating those growing up. If you make the snickerdoodles, let me know how they turn out. Merry Christmas!
