Lindi here! It’s February–Valentine’s month, whoo! Who’s excited? I am. I love Valentine’s Day. (No pun intended!)
And of course, this is the Inspy ROMANCE Blog. :) We’re all about love here.
I know a lot of the ladies here are having books release soon. Don’t we all love new books! And I’m working on a couple of books now. We’ve talked about new stories and beginnings before, so we won’t go there today, but the process of building a world, building characters, finding the “center” of the story, can be daunting and exhilarating all at the same time.
One of the books I’m working on is titled Birthday Girl. This book will have romance, but I have an element in the story that some call fantasy realism. I can’t really talk too much about that part right now, but my heroine, Meredith, goes to see her father every year on her birthday. This year her father announces he’s getting married-on her birthday. But there’s a surprise about her soon to be step-mother that rocks everyone’s world.
And the other book I’m working on is And the Bride Wore Red. It’s book 2 of the Wedding Dress Collection and this book has been in my head so long, I’m hoping it will spill out. :)
This is a story about soap opera actress, Kit Mills, coming home to take care of her mother who has dementia. Her on-screen love, Adain, follows her home to pursue her in real life–but Kit doesn’t want anything to do with him off set–or does she?
So, two new projects! Yay!
My favorite part of writing the story is writing the rough draft and figuring everything out. It’s a lot of work going back and editing, but flying through a rough draft is how I work best. Birthday Girl is going to be the harder of the two by far, but I’m pretty much in love with that storyline and I can’t wait to see how Meredith’s world comes together.
Or falls apart.
Honestly, writing a story is like maneuvering through our days. We have a plan, or we have an agenda, but sometimes, things go “bump” in the day and our path goes a different direction than we intended.
What kind of turns has your path taken, lately?
I’ll give an e copy or print copy of my Single Dad Next Door Novella Series to one commenter. :)
Hi Lindi, both titles of your new books sound intriguing- hmm, the Bride wore Red…makes me wonder why?
While I know God is definitely leading, I do not always know where- or more importantly the ‘why’ sometimes!! It reminds to take time to reflect, to look back and see God’s leading, because often that is the only time things make sense.
Blessings:)
I’m curious why the bride wore red. The book about the soap opera actress really appeals to me because I’m just starting to deal with cognitive issues with my mom. That is the turn my path has taken and it is sad to see a once independent parent decline. I know God will be with me (and her) through it!
Lindi, I can’t wait to read the books you’re working on. They sound great! I’ve started a new job in December and learning the ropes. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Your books sound really interesting, Lindi! I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
My father had Alzheimer’s and my mom experienced dementia following a series of strokes. So find that topic interesting – aha – bride wore red eh? I got remarried after being widowed almost 4 years ago and I wore purple! Fun to hear about what authors are working on – thanks!
We are in a new chapter of our lives and enjoying it. Learning about our new state and city. We moved from urban, northern Virginia to a little more rural, Kentucky. There’s a donkey across the street! Your titles are interesting! Lord bless your writing!
Hi Lindi! Delightful book blurbs, especially The Bride Wore Red. Adding to my to read pile. Snowy day in SW Michigan and no school. Been a long winter. Best wishes and Happy Valentine’s Day!
My husband was in the hospital for a week. They decided not to do surgery but wait and see what happens. So he was sent home. What happened was Hurricane Irma. Our neighborhood looked like a war zone. Two days after she left, he went back into the hospital, this time for 2 weeks and he had the surgery.
Thanks be to God for His hand upon us during this time.
Lindi your books sound intriguing. I do wonder why the bride wore red. A wintry day in central Illinois with winter storms headed our way. A good to to curl up with a great book.
This was already a busy week, and then one of our cats developed a bladder infection, so we “got” to add in trips to the vet, extra bills to pay, and the “fun” of giving her antibiotic pills every morning for 3 week! :-) I told her she’d better do a lot of cuddling to make up for all the expense :-)
About 2 years ago, I was confirmed as having MS. Apparently I have had this for some time. Anyway, I doing fairly well, I’m still mobile and somewhat active. But I get torn on doing things for my husband of 44 years and doing what I need to do for me. Usually it’s little things, but you know how that can go. I can no longer run, stand for long periods of time or walk without my cane for balance. I know the Lord has watched out for us so many times, close calls and all. I’m so thankful for that, in so many ways. I’ve been able to watch our grandchildren grow up. (they love to read too) Our oldest grandchild is 12. I do appreciate each day so much more. Have a blessed valentine’s day.
Wemble—Reflection–we do love to do that. God does lead well, doesn’t he?
Elizabeth—I’m sorry about your mom. It’s a journey–and I’ll be praying for both of you. As for why the bride wore red, well, it will be in the book. :)
Sally–New job–yay! I’m sure it won’t be long before you are a pro at it. :)
Thank you, Melanie!
Hi—Linda Sue, my name is Lindi Sue, :) And wow–a purple wedding dress! I love it. I’m sorry that your parents and you had to go through that.
Diana—Kentucky is so beautiful. :) And a donkey–how cool. We used to have donkeys, but sold them years ago. One of them kicked me once–no fun.
Renate–Snow—yuk..sorry–I’m in Georgia and we are 70 today. I hope your winter isn’t too much longer.
Janet–what a story. I remember Irma. She ruined my beach vacation. :) I’m glad all went well with your husband’s surgery.
Pat—a perfect day to curl up with a great book. Stay warm you folks who live north. :)
Margaret—We love our kitties, don’t we? I love kitty snuggles. I hope she gets better soon.
Nancy–Wow–It sounds like your coming along with your MS. I’m glad you are taking care of yourself. And watching the grandchildren grow up, it’s such a blessing, isn’t it?
I love this cover. Blessings
I would love to win a paperback
My life has taken a couple of turns this last year, starting with my hubby’s retirement at the end of June. We are loving it, and how our days are constantly varied on what we do. Also I started helping with a FB page as moderator, which has been quite a learning curve. Life is so interesting with all its twists and turns and surprises!
Our family had a bit of a crisis situation with our grown daughter in December that caused us to have the grand-girl with us for a while. Talk about a life change for about two months! Things are slowly getting better and we’re finding a new “normal”. God has been with us through it all and it brought us closer to Him in it.
I’m so glad we can have One to rely on when things go topsy turvy, don’t you!
Multiple children have been sick, my job is just barely hanging on while several friends have already lost their jobs, every day has been extremely busy to the point of exhaustion…..BUT God is in control. That fact keeps me going.
Both books look really good. Makes me wonder why brides would wear red in a wedding.
