Hi, family!
I am super excited to be gearing up for my second (and final, I think) book fair of the year. I have not participated in Orlando Reads Books before, but some authors I really love have, so I figure it must be worth the while. And the more I learn about it, the more fun I think it’s going to be.
Orlando Reads Books (ORB) is an author-reader event that takes place annually in August. Thursday and Friday are dedicated to author networking and education, and then the real party starts on Friday night in the “Regency Ball Room.” Fam, it seems I’ll be going to my very first masquerade party. 😮 I even acquired a fancy dress. I haven’t bought my “mask” yet, but … hang on, let me put that on my to-do list … Okay, done. This dinner does require a purchased ticket, and then you get to choose which author you’d like to sit with!
Saturday morning kicks off with author panels, where an emcee will ask a handful of authors (including moi!) some questions about their books.
After the panels there will be a “reader cafe” where some of the authors (including me!) will be offering coffee, cookies, and new releases!
Then there’s a round or two of speed dating. Isn’t that clever? Authors will set up, and readers will have a few seconds to spend with each author, learning a little about their books without getting trapped! (Not that any author would trap a reader, ever, but sometimes we do love to talk about our imaginary friends!)
And then finally, we’ll have a good old-fashioned book fair. From 3pm to 6, authors will be at their tables with books, swag, and smiles, and readers are free to explore and chat. This part of the event is completely free, though people still need to get tickets.
This entire event is billed as family-friendly, so you don’t have to worry about any off-color displays and swag. They are expecting more than sixty signing authors, and Christian romance will be represented! Katherine Karrol and Kerry Evelyn will be joining me, and there may be others I don’t know about yet.
The entire event takes place at Embassy Suites Hilton Orlando North. Readers can participate in one, several, or all of the activities. I think it’s going to be a romp-stomping good time, and if you’re anywhere near Orlando in August, I hope you’ll join us. I would love to meet you in real life!

Hi Robin! The Orlando Reads Books event sounds fun. As a retired English teacher, I enjoy meeting authors and going to book events. Little far for this Michigander to travel. Enjoy your adventures. Hope you post more about the event in the future. Stay cool. Best wishes.

I love Michigan! I used to be a pilot on the Great Lakes and have spent a ton of time there. I need to find a book event there so I have an excuse to visit! :)
Robin says
Yes, that is correct! Please come find me! (I’ll be the one in front of the Robin Merrill banner, lol!)
Robin says
Thank you, Ruthie. The only event I know about on your side of the pond is London Book Fair, but that probably doesn’t have quite the same cozy feel, lol.

Thank you, Debra! Hopefully we authors land in your neck of the woods soon! :)
