Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ. (Ephesians 4:32)
Today is World Kindness Day. As an inspirational romance author, kindness is a theme I often address in my books, but even more so in my life. I’ve discovered a little kindness goes a long way, whether with my fictional characters, my family or even random strangers.
So today, I thought I’d share some kindness quotes, some famous and some not so famous, but all full of the wisdom and love we authors strive to bring to our writing.
Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that someday someone might do the same for you. (Princess Diana)
Kindness is my only guiding star. In its light I sail a straight route. I have my motto written on my sail—to live in love. (St. Therese of Lisieux, The Little Flower)
It’s the little things that count…
Be the living expression of God’s kindness. Kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile. (Mother Teresa)
A reminder that we can’t see into people’s hearts…
Be kind, for everyone you meet is engaged in a battle. (St. Philo of Alexandria)
And that we need to be kind and compassionate to ourselves, as well…
By giving myself more compassion, I am inspiring others to be kinder to themselves. (Laura Sanders, The I Am Journal)
And I’ll leave you with the estimable Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman’s wise words…
And so I encourage you today to go out and change the world through kindness.
My next Harlequin Love Inspired romance and #4 of my Rocky Mountain Family series is Their Unbreakable Bond, available for preorder now and out on December 26th.

Hi Deb! Thank you for the inspiring blog. As a woman, wife, mom, Oma, retired pastor’s wife and teacher, and Christian in a way World KINDNESS Day is sad. If we are filled with the LOVE of Christ, KINDNESS should be a natural everyday occurrence. Giving others a smile and an encouraging word, sharing our good fortune with others, not being drawn in to the worldly ugliness and divisiveness. Deb, sending you GET WELL wishes for a speedy recovery as you recuperate at home.
A special word of KINDNESS and encouragement to ALL our Inspy Romance authors, whose books inspire us throughout the year. Thank you for your dedication to your craft, this blog, social media sites, and your readers. We appreciate you. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi, Deb! The simple assurance that God is so kind to us fills my heart when I stop to meditate on it. So many of your quotes ring true for me personally. It is such a blessing to see the peace and even joy that kindness brings to the lives of others when we give it. Thank you for sharing the reminder. :-)
Congratulations on the upcoming launch from a fellow Plottr user!

As the weather anchor said on the news this morning, we should be kind every day, not just on World Kindness Day. I agree wholeheartedly!!

Random acts of kindness are always good. Normally just a smile will brighten a day but its hard when you wear a mask. but its amazing how even simple things can brighten someone’s day. I remember a few years back we had a kindness tree for Christmas at Church. We had a star shape and wrote random acts of kindness we were going to do on the star and hung it on the tree often when others weren’t around to see who put what on the tree and then in the lead up to Christmas do what we said. Most of these were in secret and it was actually fun to do something for someone.
earlier in the year someone had sent a few items and one was a tea bag in a little packet with a sweet saying on it. I found a pattern for them and made up one for each lady in the church and put in a flavoured tea. Besides mum and one lady from our outreach church (small town where we went twice a month for a service) no one ever knew who did the gift. It felt nice to do something simple to brighten their day it was also fun them guessing and guessing wrong who did it.
I hope they do it again some time (not that we can’t do this without prompting)
