I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I’m sure many of us are still eating leftover turkey today for lunch, some of us are resting from such a busy day yesterday, and some may be out grabbing up those super awesome day after Thanksgiving sales.
But for me, I don’t do Black Friday, because I have something more important at the top of my to do list today. I am decorating for Christmas!
Around my house, the day after thanksgiving is a very big day. I pull out all my boxes and boxes of decorations, make myself a large cup of hot chocolate, put on my favorite Christmas CD and start my day. The Christmas trees goes up, yes I said trees, I have a tree in every room in my house :-) It usually takes me most of the day to get it all done. BUT I love it!!
Last year the three youngest grandchildren which were 3, 4, and 5 wanted to help me decorated. After about an hour they’d had enough of it all, and quit to go watch cartoons. They just couldn’t hang in there with Nona :-) They may want to give it another shot this year, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
So to celebrate the official beginning of the Holiday season, I’m giving away five copies of my (only) Christmas novella, A Match Made for Christmas.
You can’t give anyone a man for Christmas, or can you?
All of a sudden, Seirra Marshall finds herself anonymously receiving several roses along with various date invitations from men she barely knows. She wonders what is going on. When she discovers the truth, she is heartbroken and questions if the man she trusted is in on the whole matchmaking scheme.
Corbin Whitley is in love with Seirra Marshall and has been since the day he first laid eyes on her. When he discovers she is single again, he decides to do whatever it takes to win her heart. Just when he thinks that is happening, something goes terribly wrong. Will he be able to fix the wrong done to her, or is it too late?
*************************************************************************
Please leave your comment by Nov. 30th for your chance to win one of the five copies of, A Match Made for Christmas, I’ll be giving away.
Tell me what do you usually do the day after Thanksgiving?

We have decided to make our family traditions start with getting out Christmas tree as well. Last year, we drove up into the hills to get our tree. Our oldest son was not yet 3, but he already associates Christmas trees with that trip. I love the idea of him remembering that for the rest of his life :)

Wow Debra! You are an ambitious woman. While in the past I had two Christmas trees, one in the living room and a small one in the family room; now being retired I only put up one tree on December 6 St. Nicholas Day. Usually on Saturday, I put away our fall placemats and decorations. Then I put out the advent wreath, advent calendar, Christmasy placemats, and change our everyday dishes to the holiday set. After December 6, I finish decorating the house with our manger scenes – we have three, one in the living room, one in the family room and one in my 3 year old granddaughter’s play room. The day after Thanksgiving I usually do a some shopping, not so much for Black Friday deals. Would love to be included in the giveaway: A Match Made for Christmas. Thanks and happy decorating.

I bet your house looks great. I admire your ambition. I have done two trees in the past but only do one now. Would love a chance to win a copy of A Match Made for Christmas.

I love that you have a Christmas tree in every room, Debra! The lights from the tree are so comforting, aren’t they? Since our decorations are all up and I stay far away from the shoppers, I’ll be hunkered down today, pushing through the last 8k words of NaNoWriMo. Have a wonderful day!

I love Christmas stories and this sounds like great one. Thanks for the giveaway!

I spend the day after Thanksgiving decorating for Christmas. It’s the best time of year!

Good morning, Rachael! I am 50+ years-old and I still have some treasured Christmas traditions I still remember and hold dear to my heart from when I was a little girl. Some I continued on with my own children and grandchildren and some I didn’t. My mother passed away in September 2012, so some of those precious memories have become even more special to me this time of year. Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
LORRAINE OWENS says
Being a newbie to Thanksgiving and also Christmas my husband is the official organizer of above events. After last year when we had to cut one of our 8 cats out of pre-lit tree, we are putting it up in the Computer Room. So only us two and Ben the dog get the benefit of it.

Good morning, Renate! The decorating is underway at my house, and I’m enjoying myself so very much. I may not be able to get up off the sofa tonight, but it will all be worth it :-) Enjoying your shopping today! Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

Good morning, Pat! I will continue decorating this way until my body says it time to stop. Hopefully, that will be years on down the road :-) I hope you and your family has a very Merry Christmas!

How we spend the day after Thanksgiving varies from year to year. This year we’re traveling to visit family, so we’re spending the day visiting and watching the cousins play together. Other years we will shop, and still others we decorate.
debracollins2016 says
Good morning, Jill! Yes, there’s just something so comforting and peaceful about watching the Christmas lights flicking on the trees. I stay away from the Black Friday shoppers too, some of those people scare me :-) Good luck on your NaNoWriMo today. Sending Christmas wishes to you and yours!

Good morning, Melissa! I love Christmas stories, too. My Kindle is stocked full for some Holly Jolly Christmas reading :-) Merry Christmas to you and yours!
debracollins2016 says
Good morning, Sally! I completely agree with you, it is the BEST time of the year! Happy decorating to you, too! Sending Christmas wishes to you and your family!!

Good morning, Lorraine! Oh no, on cutting one of your cats out of your Christmas tree. If the cat wasn’t injured, that sounds like one of those Christmas memories you’ll be laughing about for years to come. We got a kitten back in March, so this will be her first Christmas, and I’m hoping we won’t have too much trouble with her and my trees. Fingers crossed :-) Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

Good morning, Melynda! I hope you have a safe trip, and I hope you have a wonderful time visiting with your family. Nothing is more important than family, that’s what make the Holidays so wonderful!! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

I wish I had time to decorate today. Earlier today my mom just sent some pics of her house decorated and I invited her over to help me decorate (wish things were as simple as that in a big city, but she just said “I wish” and “we have so much to do”—plus “I need to go to work” and “I’m trying a new recipe for your baby shower”… so I know she has her hands full and I’m part of the reason already).
I do plan on decorating with my husband on Sunday, hopefully we’ll find the time. We’re definitely making Christmas cookies tomorrow at my mom’s and then on Sunday we’re on our own (which is pretty unusual since we usually spend Sundays at my parents, but they’ll be out of town and it will give us time to decorate).
Wishing that the season of Advent fill your hearts here at InspyRomance with God’s love and peace for a new year.

Other years I’ve started Christmas decorating right after Thanksgiving, but with Thanksgiving earlier this year, the pressure is off :-) We are having a neighborhood Christmas get-together on Dec. 4, so I’ll have to get started decorating some time before then. So far I’ve slept in today, and don’t have anything I *have* to do!

I spend the day after Thanksgiving relaxing with family. I have been enjoying some Christmas books since the beginning of this month. Would love to be in the drawing for your Christmas book. Enjoy your time decorating your home.

Decorating at my house happens in stages. Adevent things go up for Dec. 1st, but sometimes our tree is really late. I direct the music for our church Christmas musical so starting next weekend, dress rehearsals begin. At that point decorating stops at home until it is over as there is no time left until afterwards. It’s worth it though when we see how many people from the community come out to the musical who normally never attend a church. Then when I have time, I decorate some more. ?

I usually start to decorate the day after Thanksgiving, but his year we drove our Baltimore daughter and her husband to the airport 90 miles away, so I’m not up for dragging out the boxes today. Tomorrow I’ll start.
debracollins2016 says
Hey, Priscilla! It sounds like you and your mother are very busy, busy, busy. Congratulations to you! Sounds like you’re going to have a wonderful addition to your family for next Christmas. My daughter-in-law is expecting next May, so we will have a new family member next Christmas, too :-) Merry Christmas to you and your family!
debracollins2016 says
Hello, Nancy! Thank you, I enjoyed my day of decorating very much :-) I’m relaxing now and enjoying the glow of the lights on the tree. Sending Christmas wishes to you and yours for the Holidays!

Hello Tammy! Our Decembers are always so busy that if I get all my decorating finished the day after Thanksgiving I can relax just a little bit before the Christmas season kicks into high gear. I love this time of year, and as Sally said in an earlier post, it truly is the BEST time of the year! I hope you and your family has a very Merry Christmas!
debracollins2016 says
Hey Merrillee! It sounds like you’ve had a very busy day. I know you must have enjoyed spending that extra time with your daughter and son-in-law. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!

Since we go to visit my sister-in-law in WA for Thanksgiving, the next day (Friday) we watch the Apple Cup: the college football end game of the season between rivals WA State University and University of WA. Since my niece went to WSU we cheer for the Cougers, even though they don’t usually win…lol! It’s a tradition we’ve had for many years now and a much anticipated time with family!
Jessica B. says
The day after Thanksgiving means the start of Christmas decorating for me and my family also. We usually start with trading out our everyday dishes for the Christmas ones and getting our main tree assembled. The last few years we have decorated the tree while watching a football game on Sunday afternoon. The rest of our decorations will probably come out in the next week or so, except for my Christmas pajamas which I’ll get out for tonight.
debracollins2016 says
Hello Trixi! Sounds like a great way to spend the day after Thanksgiving. I am a huge college football fan, too. Our game was on Saturday. The Iron Bowl, Alabama vs Auburn. Roll Tide!! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

Hello Jessica! All my decorating on the inside is done and now it’s time to relax and take a couple of days to rest before starting on the outside :-) Hoping you and your family has a very Merry Christmas!
