Happy Sunday, everyone! Can you believe tomorrow is the last day of April? I’ve truly enjoyed hosting the Sunday Editions this month.
Thank you all for journeying with me as my family and I moved to the beautiful Texas Hill Country. After practically camping in our new house for nine days, a wonderful group of movers brought our things by U-Haul truck Friday evening. I cannot tell you how happy I was to see our couch, love seat, and recliner again (I can honestly say I will not miss sitting on a folding chair).
For better or worse, my husband and I hate having the house in disarray. Then there’s our son who, ten minutes after the U-Haul truck was unloaded, started asking us if we were going to unpack the boxes. As a result, we’ve been working to get unpacked at warp speed. As of this morning, we have approximately fifteen boxes left. With any luck at all, we should be settled in by the end of today.
I’m so happy to get settled here. Unlike the last two houses we’ve lived in, this kitchen has an amazing amount of counter space and cabinets. Seriously, I’m going to get spoiled living here. I love the fact that I can have one stretch of cabinets dedicated to baking.
By the end of May, I’m hoping to have planted a flower garden against the fence in the backyard, add some hanging strawberries, and maybe put a planter or two of flowers to the front yard as well.
How are you spending your last day of April? Do you have anything planned for the coming month?

Hi Melanie, well done with setting up your house so quickly!! I’m like you- I do not feel like I can be productive until the house is sorted! Your kitchen sounds great:)
We have had another glorious weekend weather wise and have enjoyed trying out some fantastic new mountain bike tracks that have recently opened near us. May brings my youngest son’s birthday- he turns 8 and that blows me away!
Blessings:)

Glad you are almost settled in! It always feels good to be “up and running” after a move.
As for our May plans…we have a garage sale planned and I am most excited about taking my 80 year old mom to a historical site which she asked to go to! She doesn’t drive and rarely asks to do anything so I was thrilled when she indicated there was a day trip she wanted to do.

Hi Melanie! Lovely home and glad to hear you are settling in with your family. We have had one of the coldest April’s in recorded weather history. There is promise that the weather will be warmer the next few weeks, but this cold snap will hurt our fruit farmers since normal we would have fruit blossoms by the beginning of May. May is my month since it is Mother’s Day at the beginning of the month and my birthday at the end of the month. Also thinking about my dad, who would have been 100 on May 4th. RIP. Looking forward to a shared Memorial Day birthday celebration in Chicago with a friend. Best wishes.

My husband and I are involved in CERT – Community Emergency Response Teams. In May, we’ll be “hosting” a basic CERT training class for our town. He’ll be doing some of the teaching, and I’ll be making sure there’s water, coffee, tea, etc. for the participants. There will be a class every Thursday evening for 3 hours!

Congratulations on getting thise boxes unpacked! We have moved many times in our 49 years. Last time was when we retired three years ago. Niw we are adding things, like a new sofa, lamp and wedge table. It’s very nice to be settled. I’m glad you have lots of kitchen space! That’s what I like, too. And closets!
We went to early Church, so I’ll be reading the rest of the day. Not very warm yet in my part of the country.
Thanks for the informative post! Blessings!

Glad your kitchen is coming together on this next to last day of April. I’m sure your calendar is either in a box or covered up. Seems like if the kitchen is in working order, then everything else will fall into place soon. Moving can be the pits on meal times and finding things to make for a hungry family. My hubby does not do well with missed meals. It only took him 2 and 1/2 years to remodel our kitchen and some of the ways I fixed meals were not ordinary. Part of the floor had to be replaced in this old farm house. Anyway, happy that you are starting to see the end for the kitchen.

It will be such a relief when it’s all done. Thanks for sharing your journey.

We’ve been in our house for a year and a half and I still don’t feel I have everything quite how I want it!

Congratulations on the move and getting organized quickly. I’m trying to get warm on this cold day. My pear tree is in full bloom and it might freeze tonight. Unreal. Praying for favor.

Thank you, Pam!

Hi Wemble! We finished today, though my back sure is complaining. Tomorrow I’ll vacuum and mop as both are needed desperately after all of the traffic in and out of the house.
That’s wonderful you’ve had such great weather. I hope your son has a great birthday this coming month!
Melanie D Snitker says
Your trip with your mom sounds wonderful! I hope you guys thoroughly enjoy it!!
Melanie D Snitker says
I really hope that May brings much warmer weather. That’s not good about the fruit trees. I”m sure all the cold weather is really throwing everything off. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and Mother’s Day coming up. Hugs about your dad, too. (((hugs)))
Melanie D Snitker says
Thanks, Paula! We finished unpacking today and while I’m exhausted, it was so worth it!
Melanie D Snitker says
Thank you, Jackie!
Melanie D Snitker says
Wow, Margaret, that’ll keep you guys busy all through May. But it sounds like a fabulous class!
Melanie D Snitker says
Hi, Paula. Your afternoon sounds wonderful. Hopefully you’ll get some warmer weather soon!
Melanie D Snitker says
Thanks, Nancy!
Melanie D Snitker says
It definitely will! Thanks, Colleen
Melanie D Snitker says
It does seem like it takes lots of tweaks over time to get everything the way we want it, doesn’t it?
Melanie D Snitker says
Oh no! I hope the temps stay above freezing so that your pear tree – and other plants as well – will be spared!
Janet Estridge says
The only good thing about moving is getting rid of a lot of “trinkets & treasures”.
The idea of moving again, makes me tired.
Thanks for entering me in your giveaway.
