Hey everyone! It’s my month again! You’ve got me the whole month of September.
For me, September means book releases, season premieres, FALL WEATHER!, and so much more. This year it also means band performances interrupted by football games, our first foray into band competitions and overnight trips (though that’s not until October), and helping our oldest get ready to test for her driver’s permit (also not until October – and she’ll be leaving super early in the morning on her birthday for that road trip).
This year, it also means it’s time to buckle down on the writing. I recently quit my day job (officially, I took the fall off, but it’s hard to get back in once you do that) to write full time. Hopefully, that’ll mean more books faster! YAY!
Normally, it also means getting ready for the American Christian Fiction Writers annual conference, but as I’m sure you’ve heard, that was last week. I got to hang out with our own Cheryl Wyatt (though we never have enough time together!), and lunch with Deb Kastner, Ginger Solomon, Heidi McCahan, Kimberly Rose Johnson, and Lee Tobin McClain. Plus I met or saw again so many non-IR peeps – like Tamara Leigh (have you read her medievals?), Dani Pettrey, Karen Witemeyer, Kristy Cambron, Betsy St. Amant, Cara Putman, Deb Raney, Ted Dekker, Kathleen Y’Barbo, Clari Dees, most of the Seekerville gals, Beth Vogt, Becky Wade, Katie Ganshert, Sarah Ladd, Robin Carroll, Rick Barry, Jim Rubart, (and those are just the ones I see super quick as I scroll through the pics on my phone). It’s my favorite week of the year!!! But it’s now it’s 381 days until the next one… (not that I’m counting).
I also got to see my second cousin who I’d never met before and spend the day with her and her family! We were able to identify some people in some pictures I have from around the turn of the last century which is FANTASTIC!
What about you? Are you all about the pumpkin spice everything? I have lots of friends who are!

Writing full time sounds great, enjoy! We are coming into Spring- yay:) Now the temperature needs to recognise that and start to warm up. We don’t get hot weather until after Christmas here, but it is so very nice to see our fruit trees blossom, raspberry canes get leaves, and everything coming back to life again. Lovely.
Love the fall and here in hot and humid Texas,it can’t come soon enough.
I like fall. It means kids are back to school and christmas is closer.
Fall is in the air. We are finally having cooler temperatures in SW Michigan. Enjoying time outdoors. Looking forward to my favorite apples, Honey Crisp. The apple trees are ripe unto harvest in our area. Love seeing the neighbor’s pumpkins growing on the vine. Soon we will have Apple Cider. Plan to bake a family favorite Sour Cream Apple Coffee Cake. Mmm – can spell the cinnamon and apple already. I save the Pumpkin Spice for October & November – (Halloween and Thanksgiving).
Congrats on a new chapter in your life – writing full time. My favorite series are The Montevaro Monarchy and The Brides of Belles Montagnes. Intrigued by the European setting. Best wishes.
Aww yes, September is here~ However sad to say, since I live in Florida, fall won’t arrive by the calendar. It doesn’t come until at least October. But October does mean Pumpkin pie and the beginning of all those great fall/winter flavors! Yum!! Of course, one of my favorite things is Pumpkin Spice coffee and even pumpkin flavored coffee creamer. Oh, yes, such contentment!!! :)
Bring it on. Of course, I try to read every day, including fall. Plus it is time for hot chocolate, too! Yeah!!!
Reading Saving Grace and enjoying it.
I love fall bonfires and a peaceful house while the kids enjoy the outdoors. Great curl up and read weather!
Hi Carol, so happy to hang out with you all month long!!!! I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe it’s September already, where did the year go? This year is also different for me because I’m not sending my son to school this next week as he graduated in June! (Our schools here in Oregon don’t start until after Labor Day) I’m not sure where all the years went…..yikes! It was really strange to walk through all the retail stores and NOT buy school supplies, my hands were itching to pick up a pack of pens or notebook paper…lol! Though he will be attending the community College here in town, but that isn’t until the end of the month, it still doesn’t seem real. How did I go from a pre-schooler to a College age young man??? Can I turn the clock back…haha!
I do like pumpkin, but I’m NOT a fanatic about it :-) Not really keen on pumpkin spice coffee or tea, I like the peppermint mocha better. I look forward to the time of year I can buy the liquid creamer in the stores, I also love putting that in my hot chocolate!
I loved seeing all the pictures everyone posted at both the CFRR and ACFW conference, I really tried NOT to be jealous…lol! I’m so glad you got to meet other writer friends and had fun :-) Hopefully it sparked some new story ideas! Blessings on the new venture of going to a full time writer Carol, so excited for you.
Happy SONday everyone at Inspy Romance…and have a fun Labor Day!
Band? What do you play?
