Hi everyone!
The picture above is one of the trees in my backyard. It looks much prettier in person than the photo but…oh well. Trust me when I say it’s a lovely dark orange right now and I’m adoring having my trees finally embrace fall. (And I can enjoy it because our lawn mowers do our leaf pickup for us. If I had to rake I’d probably have a slightly different opinion.)
It’s finally starting to feel like fall around here. I’m loving the cool days and even cooler nights. Our heater has even been on a few times. This is my favorite time of year, though I miss the falls I grew up with in New Mexico, with the Aspen trees on the Sandia mountains. There’s simply nothing on the east coast that can compare.

Yay, thanks:) Tree looks good, autumn colours are the best! I had to look up the Sandia Mountains, they look stunning, reminds me of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. Have a great week:)
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Oh! I should have posted a photo of the aspens in the fall. Maybe next week — glad you looked them up. That will always be home to me :) And now I will go look up the Finders Range. Thanks for stopping in this morning!
Cassandra M says
Yeah most of the trees around here already gave up the ghost and have very few leaves on them anymore and those that have not fallennyet ate brown. I was basically trapped home for nearly a full month when my transmission went out so I missed 95% of the beauty of fall this year.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Oh what a bummer to miss all the color :(
mimionlife says
I am amazed at how many leaves are still on the trees here in Mechanicsville VA. Last night we had freezing temperatures and today, things are looking a bit different. I love the colors of autumn.
Marylin Furumasu says
Elizabeth,
I love the changing of the trees. Where I live we have beautiful colors. It’s always like God just splashed colors around for our enjoyment.
I’m excited to Valerie’s book. I got it and I also purchased the first book in the series so I can read them together. Fun fun!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
We’re in the same boat! I’m just now starting to see the trees letting go — it was a warm October though, so I suspect that had something to do with it. I love fall, too. :)
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Oh yay! Congrats on your win. It’s a great book – I got to beta read it for her :) And the first in the series is also delightful. I know you’re going to have a great time between those pages!

It is finally feeling like fall here in SC also. And we got some rain today! It hasn’t rained in a month and even then it wasn’t much, so we’re very thankful. There is also a forest fire not too far from here, so we’re hoping we get some more rain to help with that.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Hooray for rain! I’m definitely praying for those fires – I have a couple of friends who have had to evacuate.
Trixi says
Elizabeth, your tree is so pretty! I grew up in Illinois and I sure do miss seeing the leaves change and fall, I don’t get that so much here. It’s also been unseasonably warm still and usually by this time of the year we’re starting to feel the nip in the air. It’s almost like our seasons came backwards this year, our summer was much cooler and our fall is turning out to be much warmer. It’s been that way for the last couple of years really and not sure why. I know there have been odd weather patterns all over the US!
Happy SONday everyone, have a blessed week! Looks like another fun one here :-)
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Thanks Trixi! Illinois does have a very lovely fall. I always enjoyed it when I was at Wheaton.
