Christmas can be a busy time of the year. In fact, for most of us, there’s no can be about it. It’s simply fact. Christmas = hustle, bustle, and at least some crazy-face (that look you make when you’re about to lose it).
And this year, Christmas falls on a Sunday.
I’ve heard many discussions about church on the 25th. Should we have Sunday School? Will the nursery be open? Will anyone even come?
It’s a little bit funny to me because I know for a fact that this is not the first time in the history of mankind that Christmas has fallen on a Sunday. It is, however, the first time I’ve heard so much discussion about it. But then, I don’t think I was really on social media the last time it landed on the calendar that way, so maybe I just missed all the hubbub.
So tell me. What are your plans for Christmas morning? Do they include church, or will church be skipped in favor of family? No judgement here. My son will be playing piano in church that day, but my husband has to work, so I get to straddle the fence of church/no-church on Christmas morning. I like to think of myself as an American Switzerland. Neutral, but with less snow.
Blessings!
Heather

I love going to Church on Christmas, it is extra special. This year however, we will be in the beautiful Blue Mountains (near Sydney), camping with family and friends and exploring some canyons- first time for the boys!! so today was spent packing. I hope you have time with family (and a rest somewhere in there!!) as we celebrate Jesus’ birthday. Until next year:)
Kelly Youngblood says
We would be at church but our small church has decided to have just the Christmas Eve service the night before. I guess six years ago when Christmas fell on Sunday only a handful of people went Christmas morning, so they opted for everyone to spend time with family this year.
Terrill R. says
Oddly enough our church is not having a Sunday service. I go to a rather large church for our small town and they will be having three Christmas Eve services, instead. I’m just one of those fundamental believers that think church should never be cancelled unless it’s a matter of life or death. I think about those people who might not attend regularly or those who just need a place of worship that Sunday, specifically. I’d like to think the doors would be open for them.
Barbara Scott says
We normally have two services on Sunday, but on Christmas we’re combining them into one at 10 am. Plus a Christmas Eve service. We’ll attend both. I love it when Christmas falls on Sunday!
Valerie Comer says
Our church focuses on a Christmas Eve outreach service, and there won’t be a service Christmas Day. Like Terrill, I find it a bit strange, but I do know the Christmas Eve service will be wonderful and draw in a large crows. We’ve grown so much we’re at two services, so we’ve rented the high school auditorium this year for Christmas Eve. It will be… interesting!
Valerie Comer says
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Day without distraction. ((hugs))
Winnie Thomas says
We’ll be going to church on Christmas. What a great place to be on the day we celebrate Christ’s birth!
JoAnn Durgin says
We have a Christmas Eve EVE service where the choir will sing (my husband directs, and I sing), then two services on Christmas Eve. On Sunday morning, Christmas Day, only our worship leader and pastor will be on stage. The pastor is a classically trained pianist and it’s a treat to hear him. We’re looking forward to all the services. Thanks for the post, Heather, and Merry Christmas to all (I’m posting late in the month). Blessings! :)
Diana says
Our youngest daughter was dedicated to the Lord as an infant on Christmas day, the year she was born. So it is kind of a neat anniversary for us. Our children will all be in different states so we will probably Skype after church. We are having one combined service on Christmas day and a service Christmas eve after caroling at two local nursing homes.
Trixi says
We will have a shortened version of a Christmas service with communion so families can have special time at home.Odd that it’s on Sunday this year, it’s been a while!
Thanks for the prizes this week and congrats to the other winners! Looking forward to another great week here on Inspy Romance. :-)
Katy C. says
We are planning to be at church, though our church will have an abbreviated schedule to accommodate more family time.
Love your comment about Switzerland. =)
Gail Estes Hollingsworth says
We always attend our church’s Christmas Eve service. This year that service and the Sunday morning service will be exactly the same so we’ll forgo the Sunday service and spend it with our grandchildren.
Linda Herold says
I used to go to mass on Christmas, but I’m not sure about this year! Wishing you happy holidays!
