Welcome to this week’s Sunday Edition! Read below to see if you won any prizes this past week and to see what last week’s posts were about. You’ll also get a sneak peek of next week’s posts as well as some of our newest and upcoming releases.
My family and I are joining a group of folks from church in a bit of a camping adventure this weekend. My idea of camping includes a cabin, beds, and a porch swing. Of course, the cabin has no indoor plumbing, so I still have to hike a bit for a bathroom. But it’s better than sleeping on the ground with nothing but a thin scrap of material between me and all those sharp, poky rocks. Not to mention hungry bears and angry mosquitoes. :-)
What about you? Do you enjoy camping? Are you a tent camper, a cabin camper, or a 5-star hotel camper?
Have a marvelous Sunday! May it be filled with good books, good fellowship, and our marvelous God.
Heather

Hi Heather, hope your camping trip goes well. Do you often encounter bears while camping? To this Aussie, that sounds scary!
I am definitely a camper, in a tent (though we do have a camper trailer), preferably carried in on my back in my backpack and set up somewhere in our beautiful high country.
Blessings:)

Hi Heather! As a teen and young married & mom, we camped in a tent! Often rustic. My In-laws had a motor home, so we used that in the 1980s. In 1984 we drove from Chicago to Anaheim, California and stayed at every Motel 6 along the way. Not quite a five star motels. We have also been blessed when friends shared their time share condos with us. Nice to have a homey home base with a kitchen to make several meals a day. Now being retired we like 4 star hotels. Fortunately never had a bear at our campsite. Skunks and raccoons are more of a problem!
Jackie Smith says
YES, we camped…in younger days! We had a camper, then a motor home….loved it. Hope you have fun!
Alexa Verde says
I’m probably one of those rare people who’d never been camping. Of course if not to count hotels. :) Heather, I hope your camping trip you’ll go great. Congratulations to the winners! I can’t wait to mail the prize. Patricia G. Moore, I hope you’ll like it!

Love camping! We tent camped for years, and our kids think we’ve gone soft now that we’ve got a small holiday trailer. We love to park it beside a mountain creek for a few days at a time, or better yet, the ocean. Ahh… June… come quickly.
Congrats to our winners!
Colleen says
No camping for me. I need a real bathroom and a nice bed. ?
Andrea Byers says
I am not a camper, though if I did camp at all it would have to be a cabin, or hotel, lol. One of my best friends loves camping and tells me we have to go sometime, cept now she has 9 month old twins, so that might put a damper on that, lol, though I think she said she is planning on camping with the whole family this summer.
Julianne Archer says
We used to camp in a tent, but bought a camp a few years ago. Yeah us! Downside – the only running water is in the lake :) I’ve heard we have one of the nicest outhouses in our area. Hope you enjoy your adventure!
Linda says
I have been a tent camper,a cabin camper and would love to be a 5 star camper.
Paula says
Went to a GirlScout camp in sixth grade– so a cabin. Also a Church camp in my teen years– another cabin. We just bought some hunting land in Missouri, so bought a tent, and gear but have not camped yet! I prefer a bed! And a lamp to read byLOL! We are retired — so closing in on seventy.
LUCIE ULRICH says
Give me a cabin with indoor plumbing and I’m good to go. Have not done well with tents and treks to the facilities. We did have bears invade out campground when I was a young wife and mother. We had a pop-up camper at the time (second to a cabin, but no indoor plumbing). Thankfully, I slept through the noise. :)
Heather Gray says
I haven’t ever actually come across a bear while camping, but when I was a kid, we used to go through Yellowstone Park, and back then, people often stopped their vehicles to feed the bears. They would lure the bears out from the trees with food so they could get pictures of them. Once the bears got over their fear of humans, things started to go sideways, though, and the park had to ban people from feeding the bears. (Common Sense 101, right? Don’t feed bears.) ^_^
Heather Gray says
Ha! I get skunks in my backyard. I’m pretty sure I DON’T want to see them while camping! ^_^ (Give me an angry bear anyday… Or not. I’d probably still pick the skunk over the bear.)
Heather Gray says
I have a friend who says a person’s style of camping is age-related. In their younger days, she and her husband would set off with nothing but their backpacks. Then eventually it was a rucksack with tent. Then a little pop-up trailer that got pulled behind the car. Then a bigger vehicle to tow a bigger trailer… You get the idea. I’m afraid I skipped the whole backpack stage of life. Mosquitoes like me way too much for me to ever sleep under the stars without some kind of protection. ^_^
Heather Gray says
Camping is (to me, anyway) about the people more than the experience. You’ll probably never find me signing up to go camping by myself. Ever. :)
Heather Gray says
I sometimes think about retiring to a trailer so I can park it anywhere I want and not be tied down. Then I hyperventilate and decide maybe a weekend trailer is a better idea…. ^_^
Heather Gray says
Thankfully, this campground had nice bathrooms. The best I’ve ever seen in a campground before. And someone came through twice/day to clean them. Because…yeah. I have a fear of gross bathrooms. (That’s normal, right?) ;)
Heather Gray says
One of the families joining us has a baby – about eight months old – and they had a little pop-up gizmo thingie for him. (Love my technical jargon, right?) The kind where you set the baby in it, and his feet touch the ground and it has toys around it for him to play with. Anyway, they had that for him, and it kept him happy a fair amount of the time. The problem was that he wanted to get down on the ground and crawl, and there wasn’t really a safe way to do that, especially with the almost nonstop rain. So apparently people who are camping pros can camp with babies. We tried once when my son was 18 months old. He’s now 17 years old. It took us that long to recover from the experience enough to be willing to try again… ;)
Heather Gray says
How funny! Believe it or not, nice bathrooms are a selling point to 85% of women out there. Maybe not men so much, but definitely women. ;)
Heather Gray says
One of the men there told us we were glamping, not camping. Apparently it’s a thing. For people who want to say they’ve camped but who don’t want to actually camp, they go glamping – or glamorous camping. Cabin, electricity, running water, room service, the whole nine yards. I’m not saying I’m against that….but even I think you need to cook a meal over an open fire in order for it to truly be considered camping. ^_^
Heather Gray says
Or at least roast a marshmallow. :D
Heather Gray says
Ha! I do like my light, too. Although I brought my e-book reader “just in case” this past weekend. So I could read even in the dark. The problem was, by the time it got dark, I was too tired to stay up and read. :D
Heather Gray says
A pop-up camper sounds pretty nice! Our cabin was awesome, and I wouldn’t trade it…but having a small camper would be my second choice. As I watched everybody else struggle to set up tents – and then battle the rain – I was ever-so-thankful for my solid roof and covered porch. :D
Julie says
We now prefer a camper over a tent. We used to tent every summer.
Linda Herold says
The only camping I am familiar with is through boy and girl scouts!
