Well, here we are at the end of May. It really feels like the days just zip on past right now. It’s a busy time of year, and I know that adds on to the feeling somewhat. We’ve basically reached the end of our homeschool year — my eldest still has a little of his math book to complete, but is otherwise done. I’m looking forward to taking June and some of July off. Usually, however, we end up all wanting to get started again right around the time we’re finished with VBS.
In other, “My how the year is speeding by” news, I showed you the start of my calendar blanket the last time I had the Sunday Edition and I figured I ought to go ahead and revisit that. I’ve been keeping up with it (yay! I had a real concern that I’d get six weeks in and decide it was too much, but that one row a day is completely doable and even if I get behind, catching up isn’t too bad.) So here’s where we are as of Thursday (when I remembered to take the photo — if you want an absolute accurate image, just add a few more orange rows. It’s been warm.)
I don’t usually end up needing to block my finished projects, but this one is going to need it. You can see some ripples down at the bottom — I thought at first I had dropped some stitches, but I think I just got a little tighter so my gauge got off. Blocking ought to get it sorted though when all’s said and done.

Hey Elizabeth- have to agree about the days flying by, my youngest turned 8 yesterday!
Your blanket looks great, thanks for the update. I like that you can see and track the weather through it:)
Blessings:)
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Thanks! I smile every night when I pull it out to do the next row.
Paula Marie says
Beautiful blanket, Elizabeth! I don’t think I would have the patience to keep up with that, so very impressive!!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Thanks! I’m not finding it too hard to keep up with, but I was worried a little when I started.
Margaret Nelson says
If I were doing a blanket like that, this week would have been in the blues, and next week would be orange or red. We were volunteering at a parade and festival yesterday and nearly froze. Monday is supposed to be HOT! Crazy weather, but we still had a good time.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
We’ve had a free days of crazy back and forth but I think we’re pretty firmly into hot and getting hotter now. And humid.y poor hair is all frizzy :)
Jackie Smith says
Crazy weather here in GA also!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
I’m almost scared of how hot it’s going to get this summer since it’s started so early here.

I rarely block my work. I find that a little each day sees the work grow before my eyes.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
I rarely do. I guess we’ll see what it’s like when it’s finished.

That’s awesome, Elizabeth. And a great way to do it, a row a day. I crochet, but haven’t done it in years. Until last week. I want a lace tablecloth for our kitchen table, but I can’t find the size we need. I decided I’d make one. I diligently crocheted Monday and Tuesday. It rippled and would take two more weeks of working on it daily to make it the size I need. I quit. Somewhere I will find the tablecloth I need. Or wait until I’m 90 an don’t have anything else to do.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Ha! I will say I feel that same way about crocheting lace. I had these grand plans of making some finer items when I first started and…yeah no. I can do yarn, no problem, but when we start working on the tiny thread for lace? Nope nope nope.
