Friends of ours are in ministry in southern Saskatchewan, pastoring a small church and helping to operate a working ranch that is home to youth at risk. We enjoyed a visit to the ranch, which was much hillier than I expected for Saskatchewan! We met several of the staff members and two teenagers who live there, and took a tour of the ranch itself. Many of the animals are rescues or donations, and the teens help with their care. It’s an amazing place where Jesus is King!

Hi Valerie, what a commitment- ministry through a working ranch for troubled youth! How important to have God followers ready to reach out:)
Today was our last day of school holidays, back to school tomorrow for Term 3- it has gone fast! Term 3 is the last full term for my year 12’s (seniors) before their end of year exams, so it is a big one!!
Blessings:)

Hi Wemble! Best wishes as you start Term 3. I am a retired United States high school teacher, who has the privilege of visiting schools in Germany, Switzerland, and Japan. This morning did a little research on when the school year starts around the world. Always enjoy reading your posts.

Hi Valerie! Thanks for sharing. What a wonderful ministry and thanks for the beautiful pictures. Always love to see llamas. Congrats to the winners. Enjoy your day.

That can be such a rewarding ministry, but it can also be very stressful too. I worked for 3 yrs, 3 decades back, as a Teacher/Counselor/Supervisor at a Teen Challenge Christian for Teens. Teen Challenge is a ParaChurch ministry for people with life controlling problems (most of which havesubstance abuse addictions). The problems are amplified in teenagers, because of their lifestage inclination to rebel. It really really helps this type of ministry, to limit the number of (at risk young people) they work with, at a time.
Thank you for sharing about this Pastor & his special ministry!

What a beautiful ministry that is! I love when I see people helping children!

We have a ranch like that here. Several of my friends work and live there. All staff are unpaid. Missionaries who raise their own support. It’s a labor of love for sure!

It really is a terrific ministry! Blessings on your final term of the school year.

The llamas were so fun… so opinionated, LOL. Happy Sunday!

A different friend of mine introduced me to Teen Challenge a few years ago – it does amazing things! Broken Arrow is different in some ways. They are careful in their ratios. It must be difficult to turn away at-risk youth. :(

Yes!!!
Valerie Comer says
This is a working ranch, so it as least partially self-sufficient, and that level is going up as they make plans and build from there. But yes, it definitely isn’t free/cheap to run a ministry like this.

Awesome pictures and ministry !! Inspiring God bless the teens and staff. I was an unwanted teen. (My dad had remarried and my stepmother didn’t want me and my mom didn’t know where to find me) Thankfully my grandparents took me in and I met the Lord. I’ve always been thankful the Lord provided, accepted me, loved me, and kept me from drugs.
