Let me tell you what I got today (Saturday) … a screen door for my front door. We’ve lived in this house going on thirteen years, and I’ve been asking for almost that long. My hubby and I bought it this morning and installed it this afternoon. The “two-hour” installation took almost four, but it’s UP! Now it’s just weird, because I see the light coming in from the front of the house, and I keep thinking I’ve left the front door open. And I have, but the animals can’t escape. :)
And lest you think I’m completely forgetful (wink, wink), today is Palm Sunday–the day we celebrate our Lord’s arrival in Jerusalem before his crucifixion. I couldn’t find an appropriate picture to depict it, but I liked the “crown of thorns” made to look like a heart.
John 12:12-19 (NLT) “The next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A large crowd of Passover visitors took palm branches and went down the road to meet him. They shouted, “Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD! Hail to the King of Israel!”
Jesus found a young donkey and rode on it, fulfilling the prophecy that said: “Don’t be afraid, people of Jerusalem. Look, your King is coming, riding on a donkey’s colt.”
His disciples didn’t understand at the time that this was a fulfillment of prophecy. But after Jesus entered into his glory, they remembered what had happened and realized that these things had been written about him.
Many in the crowd had seen Jesus call Lazarus from the tomb, raising him from the dead, and they were telling others about it. That was the reason so many went out to meet him—because they had heard about this miraculous sign. Then the Pharisees said to each other, “There’s nothing we can do. Look, everyone has gone after him!”
May your week–Passion week–be blessed.

Hi Ginger, yay, congratulations on your screen door. Totally understand- when we bought our house, there was no screen door and I really missed being able to leave the front door open to let air through in summer. Needless to say, we had one installed pretty quickly!
I’ve been listening to Andrew Peterson’s Resurrection Letters Prologue album in the lead up to Easter- your picture fits perfectly.
Easter blessings:)

Yay for the screen door! I love being able to have ours open, too, and the cat loves it, too!
I need to take some time to remember the extreme importance of this week. Thanks for the reminder.

Great that you finally got your screen door! I don’t understand why they don’t put them on houses now? I guess they decided it was too expensive and they thought we would just turn on the air conditioning!
Screen doors remind me of my grandma’s house!
Blessings!

Thanks, Wemble.

Me, too, Renate. I can’t be out in the sun much–fair skin–but I love lots of sun and fresh air.

I’m not sure the cat has discovered it yet, but the big dog likes it. :)
Ginger Solomon says
I know I’m going to enjoy it now that I have it. :)

Maybe one day, Paula Marie. As I thought of it, it’s the first I’ve had in our married life. :D None of our other homes had one.
Ginger Solomon says
Exactly, Trudy. LOVE the sun.
Ginger Solomon says
Thanks, Lucy.

I agree, Paula. My hubby thought it would be too hard, but it was quite easy, and it doesn’t look bad, which is also what he thought, thus the LONG delay.
Lori Smanski says
I love this picture of the crown/heart also. What meaning when really looked at. Congrats on your new screen door. For 31 years I have been asking my husband to get a new patio screen door for the back of the house. This one keeps falling off. It is an over sized patio door. Not really sure where they even found this size. But all the glass looking into the back yard I love. Yesterday we ordered a new patio door with a NEW screen door that wont come off. WOOHOO. Have a blessed week.
Ginger Solomon says
That’s awesome, Lori. We both got what we wanted yesterday. :)
