Do you read more books or less books during summer? I tend to read more in summer because it’s a less busy time of year. Last summer I took an extended vacation from my day job to spend more time with my teens during their summer school holidays. I spent a lot of time out walking at golf courses with my son while he practiced his golf.
I like to binge read series, which means I’ll stockpile books to read back-to-back. Summer is the ideal time to laze away those hot afternoons by escaping into a great story. Fortunately we don’t have ‘snow days’ where I live, and we’re not stranded indoors for extended periods of time during winter. Although, it is a bit chilly at the moment when I’m out walking the golf course. One day I’ll learn how to play golf, lol.

I use to read more in summer but am not reading a lot right now. In summer I would sit on the porch and read or as a kid on my bed during the summer holidays.
Wemble says
Hi Narelle- good question. I think I am busier outdoors during the summer holidays- but as we often travel somewhere, I can read while we drive. I should save series and then binge read them when all the books are released- unfortunately, I don’t have the patience to wait!!
Blessings:)
Renate says
Hi Narelle! While working full time as a teacher, I read more for enjoyment during the summer and school breaks. Now as a retiree, I read all year long; but probably read more when snowed in during January and February or during extremely hot, humid summer weather (July / August). I definitely have more books than I will ever be able to read in my life time. Best wishes.
Andrea Stephens says
I read a lot all year round. This year, I’ve read more and listened to more books than ever before.
Trudy says
I think I read the same amount of books, no matter the time of year!! I’m always reading!!
Valerie Comer says
I read a lot year around, but I do binge in summer when we’re camping. I love reading with a tumbling creek as background music! For a variety of reasons it hasn’t happened yet this summer, but it’s coming…
Ellie says
I don’t know that I read more at any particular time of year. I am trying to work on my TBR pile this summer but I seem to still be reading a lot of new books, too!
Jackie Smith says
Older and retired, I guess I read same amount…year round. 101 so far this year; thanks to all you great authors!
Paula Shreckhise says
I’m retired so I read a lot all year round. I’m a bit behind my goal for the year. Hope to catch up with a few novellas.
Patty says
My reading is pretty consistent throughout the year. I am marries, but no kids, so the summer schedule doesn’t really change for me.
Paula Marie says
I read no matter what the season…just love to read?
Jessica B. says
I read more in the summer because I like to sit at the pool with a good book.
Narelle Atkins says
My apologies for my late replies to your comments. We adopted a sweet cat on the weekend and my time has been taken up by settling her in. I’ll share a few photos in next Sunday’s post.

Hi Jenny, When I was younger, my summer holidays were filled with hours of reading, both indoors and outside. We had a glimpse of ocean views from our front porch, and when the cool sea breeze blew in it was pleasant to read outdoors. :)

Hi Wemble, One thing I can’t do is read in a moving car. Even looking at a phone while I’m a passenger can make me dizzy. I think having an extra-long tbr list that I’m slowly working through has made the waiting easier, lol. Blessings. :)
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Renate, yes, I fear I have a similar problem with too many books because I keep buying on the assumption I’ll read it one day. Being snowed in would insure me to read more. Blessings. :)
Narelle Atkins says
