Welcome to August! At Inspy Romance, the arrival of August brings the launch of our Back-2-School Bash. Ginger will kickoff the giveaway this week on Friday, August 9.
Last weekend we adopted a one-year-old cat from RSPCA ACT. Let me introduce you to Miss Daisy. The Sunday Edition photo (see above) was taken when we first brought her home. I’ve spent a lot of time this past week helping Daisy settle into her new indoor life.
Daisy was a stray cat with two young kittens. She was found in the leafy and exclusive Canberra suburb of Yarralumla that borders bushland and Lake Burley Griffin. Yarralumla is also home to our Prime Minister and Govenor General’s official residences plus many embassies.
Daisy’s kittens are now in foster care. The photo below was taken this morning as I wrote this post. Daisy was sprawled out on my legs with her nose edging under my white notebook computer. I think she’s happy in her new home, lol.

Daisy is so pretty. Its fun trying to use the computer with a cat on your lap. Just wait till you find you are typing in caps cos she walked on the caps lock. Or you wonder why you are no longer on the internet cos she stepped on the airplane mode.
Wemble says
Hi Narelle, Daisy looks cute. I imagine it is cold up your way based on our temperatures here in Vic. Not great snow though :(
I remember visiting Canberra for the first time and driving through Yarralumla and looking a the different embassies and thinking how interesting they were with architectural features to match the country. We enjoy visiting Canberra.
Blessings:)

Hi Narelle! Daisy is adorable and sweet. Looks like she is adjusting well to her new home. Looking forward to launch of our Back-2-School Bash this week. It is hard to believe that many students are already going back to school in the Midwest. Michigan as a tourist destination, most children will not start back to school until September – Tuesday after Labor Day. Glad I can enjoy the grandkids for another month. Best wishes. Stay warm and enjoy Miss Daisy.

The Back 2 School Bash sounds like fun!! Daisy is a beauty!! I’d soooo love to have a cat, and so would Mom, but, especially now, after this past week, there’s no way we can have one!!

I got 2 rescue cats from the vet (the vet here is a no kill vet and tries to rehome). Henry had been there 122 days and Libby about 3 months and they had bonded. Had them since the end of Feb and they have me well trained. Not sure how it happened so quick but my they will be fed around 8am for breakfast changed to we will make you get up by at least 7 and feed us. I am taking back control for night feeds trying to make it 6.30 not 5pm

Hi MJSH, The giveaways are always lots of fun. :)

Hi Jenny, Daisy has already decided that the keyboard is fun to walk on, lol. My notebook is touch screen, which complicates things further. :)

Hi Wemble, I’ve given up on seeing snow here this winter, lol. The last few days have been warm enough to dry laundry outdoors using my 24 hour midday-to-midday rotation. If it does snow, I’ll try to take a photo to add to one of my remaining August Sunday Edition posts.
Yarralumla is a pretty suburb. Back in March we went to Royal Canberra Golf Course in Yarralumla to watch the Canberra Women’s Golf Classic. It’s a fun tournament to walk because it’s relaxed and you’re not stuck behind ropes with crowds of people. We watched Aussie golfer Hannah Green play that tournament, and were thrilled that she won the Women’s PGA Championship in the US last month. :)

Hi Renate, Daisy is adorable. She found my lap when I sat down to started replying to comments on my phone. We only have a 6 week summer break and go back to school in early February. I have many memories of sweltering through hot and humid Sydney summer weather in classrooms with ceiling fans running non-stop during those first few weeks back at school. I’m glad you have the extra time to enjoy your grandkids. Miss Daisy snuggling close is keeping me warm atm, lol. :)
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Paula, I’m enjoying seeing Daisy settle into life with us. Only 5 days to wait until Ginger launches Back-2-School! :)
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Ellie, yes, the kittens are always popular. I’m sure her kittens will be adopted into good homes soon. We’re very happy that we adopted Miss Daisy – who is now asleep on my lap, lol. :)
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Jackie, My whole family is enjoying our new fur baby. Yes, this week is an exciting week at Inspy Romance! :)
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Trudy, I grew up with cats. After my son was born, we decided to wait until our children were older and more responsible before we adopted another pet. The magpies who live in the gum trees around our home adopted us many years ago. This meant a puppy or dog outdoors would have to cope with swooping magpies in our yard each spring. Thankfully the magpies don’t swoop us. So, nearly 20 years later, we’re cat owners again. Daisy is an indoor cat and safe from the magpies who’ll start swooping again soon. :)
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Margaret, Enjoy your new cat. :) Daisy is doing her best to train us. Whoever gets up first in the morning will be nagged to feed her breakfast.
Jenny, you won’t be surprised to hear that Daisy tried to convince me to feed her a second breakfast this morning! I messaged my husband to check that he had fed her earlier, lol. By 6pm she’s getting antsy about wanting her dinner. We always feed her first because she has us well trained. :)
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Natalya, thank you! Blessings. :)
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Sarah, Daisy is very sweet. :) Only 5 sleeps until Back-2-School starts! Blessings. :)
