Do you ever feel like the days start to speed up during the fall?
It feels that way to me sometimes — this week was one where it seems like I blinked and suddenly we were back to needing to polish up the Sunday Edition and get ready to start with a whole new week.
I suspect some of it is that it gets dark earlier now, so the day feels “over” by 6:45 and I’m ready to crawl into my jammies and snuggle in for the night, even though there’s still plenty of time before bed. The rest is probably me working to avoid overdoing as I’m recovering and, unsurprisingly, failing at that miserably. I don’t like being out of commission.
We did manage our annual pumpkin patch trip this weekend, which made the boys happy. Lots of fun with slides and a corn maze and kettle corn and choosing pumpkins straight from the patch. I over did in the corn maze (surprise!) but I totally blame my eldest for his bad map reading for that. He thinks it’s fun to get lost and figure out how to get back rather than taking the time to try and use the map.
Ah well. It was fun.
Do you do anything special for fall?

Hi Elizabeth, I also enjoy autumn- beautiful warm days, but cold nights, end of daylight saving, autumn colours..
Here in Australia, it is supposed to be Spring- the last 3 days have not been above 11 degrees celsius; since Winter “ended” we have had less than a week of days over 20 degrees- crazy! But, considering the serious bushfires in various places, I should not be complaining.
We took the boys orienteering today- I shadowed the youngest, but he didn’t need or want my help “Mummy, this is so much fun and even though you might know a quicker route, I want to learn to do this myself!”- success:)
Blessings:)
Oh my that’s chilly for spring!
And yay for orienteering success. So much fun!
Hi Elizabeth. Fall has arrived and is visible all around with cooler temperature, darker changing colors, and harvest of apples, grapes and pumpkins. Took granddaughter to our neighborhood pumpkin patch. Best wishes and enjoy your Sunday.
Pumpkin patches are always more fun with children, I think. Glad you got to go with your granddaughter!
I’m so glad my kids don’t like to get lost any more than I do! ;) We have a corn maze that a local farmer puts on just a mile or so away, so it’s a family tradition that we have to visit at least once a year. It’s my youngest son’s favorite thing to do in fall.
My favorite thing is probably baking pies. I’m not a great cook, but every once in awhile, I get in a baking mood, especially for fruit pies–cherry pie, pumpkin pies, apple pies. This year, one of my sons’ Sunday School devotionals has a calendar that names every day, and this coming week is pumpkin cheesecake day. I’ve never tried a cheesecake myself, but they’re my favorite, so I’m going to give it a go. We’ll see if it’s edible. :D
Oh man. Pumpkin cheesecake is amazing. I hope yours turns out! I bet you have very willing taste testers :)
Fall doesn’t come to FL. We don’t have a “change” until Winter comes! We had rain all day yesterday from Tropical Storm Nestor. We really needed that rain, though! I used to go to NW GA in October/November to get my Fall, as the leaves would be changed, the temperatures cool, and the apples ripening. Now, Mom can’t make that trip, so I’m home with her, waiting for Winter. In the meantime, I’m reading some great books, and looking forward to the Holidays.
We are getting that rain today here in VA. It’s lovely, but it makes me want to spend the day in bed reading 😁
Love the cooler weather in Texas and the leaves changing colors.
The only thing upcoming is our annual Craft and Bake Sale at Church next Saturday. We make things on Thursdays in our crafting group and then sell them in our little store and at our craft bazaar. We raise money for missions. Otherwise it’s reading great Christian fiction and trying to keep warm.
The leaves are really putting on a show here right now. It’s fantastic.
So fun! I love that you send the money to missions.
I think even in Australia this time of year speeds by. its about 66 days til Christmas and its the start of final exams for the year 12’s (seniors) They finish earlier than the rest of the school due to the final exams. Then its the Christmas concerts and end of school break ups etc.
This past week has been really busy for me and it speed by. I am still getting over it. I had a newsletter (for church) and a blog post to do and with both anything that could go wrong went wrong. From the newsletter info not downloading to it not saving then the blog post not saving and shutting down on me. I know I should have done that one earlier. But with the church newsletter I didn’t have time to do it earlier.
Its been chilly here too but not as cold as Wembly. We had our local show on Saturday and it was around 14 Celcius and wet and to be honest a total waste of money. I did get a treat I can only get there but there was so few things to look at out side the entries which I do enjoy looking at. Last year had so much more and cost less, I know the weather affected it but shouldn’t keep that much away. but I digress. This week part of it will be back in the 20’s celcius and I am so looking forward to wearing a dress again.
Oh man, I’m sorry you had such a rough time this week. That’s no fun :(
Enjoy your warmer weather! I know I’m always ready for the change in season when it comes.
I was sad to have to clean my garden off and see my flowers killed by frost. I miss my doors and windows open and being cold, but the trees are pretty.
The season changing definitely has some sad associated with it too.
