It’s May!
Anyone else spend the first day or two of May singing the song from the musical Camelot?
No?
Just me then.
My mom was a big fan of musicals. She had a number of the soundtracks as records – like vinyl, be careful that you don’t scratch them when you put the needle down records. And we would play them all. the. time.
Consequently, I have a ton of little ear worms from musicals most people I’ve run into don’t know anything about.
Are you a fan of musicals? What’s your favorite?

I’m a fairly big fan of musicals. My mom loved Shirley Jones, so we had Carousel, Oklahoma, and the Music Man. I got to take Carousel with me when I got married, as it was my favorite of hers. I also loved Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and several of Judy Garland’s musicals.
But the one I bought on DVD so I could watch it every year is Easter Parade with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire. It’s my absolute favorite.
Oh! I love Easter Parade!
I like musicals, but I don’t know many of the songs from them! I will admit, I’ve never made it through the Sound of Music. I’ve watched some musicals on TV, but not too many. I’ve heard songs from musicals, though, that I’ve loved!
There are some that are hard to make it through. I tried to watch Sound of Music with my boys but they (even hubby) were gagging. So we stopped. But I love it.
I love musicals! Happy May!!
They’re so much fun! :) Happy May to you!
I love musicals, even performed in a few. On vinyl, we only had a couple. Somewhere, we picked up a Sherlock Holmes musical called Baker Street. In it, Irene Adler sings a song called Letters:
Letters! Letters! I do love letters.
A note from afar. A card from Brazil.
Isn’t that nice?
Not that. That’s a bill!
Ooh. I haven’t heard of that one. I’ll have to see if it’s on YouTube.
Thanks so much for the gift card! I love musicals and my favorite is Fiddler on the Roof.
Such a good one!
Love old Hollywood musicals. I even took a seminar class in college about them–we watched a musical every class!
Congratulations to the other winners.
That sounds like an amazing class!
I loved Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Definitely some catchy tunes there :)
I do enjoy musicals. I think Annie is my favorite.
Fun fact! I was Annie in our 4th grade production. I still know all the songs. :)
I love musicals. In high school I was in the school production of The Music Man and love this musical. I love Oklahoma, State fair, South Pacific, and many more. Loved a few Doris Day musicals Moonlight bay I think one was.
I have seen a few live the first being Big River, Me and My Gal, 42 Street (I think it was), The wizard of Oz, Phantom of the Opera, The King and I, Mama Mia, The Sound of Music, The only one I didn’t like was Sunset Bouvard (Hugh Jackman was great).
I often sing different songs from musicals like Oklahoma, I have different songs go in my head at different times. They come out of nowhere.
Oklahoma has a lot of catchy songs. :) I really want to see High Jackman on Broadway in the Music Man this fall (assuming it goes on as usual). We shall see.
