Welcome back to southeastern British Columbia, Canada! This week’s photos are taken along Lake Koocanusa. This is a man-made lake, the result of a hydroelectric dam. The word comes from combining three place names KOO (comes from Kootenay, the region of BC), CAN (the first three letters of Canada), and USA (for United States of America), since the long, skinny lake crosses the international boundary!

Interesting name source for the beautiful lake :)
It is, isn’t it! And it sounds so much like a First Nations name, too.
Great pics! The lakes name is interesting, and unique! What a pretty spot!!
It really is. This camping spot is right on the border, too.
What a pretty lake!
It sure is :)
Hi Valerie! Thanks for sharing not only the beautiful pictures, but explaining the name of the man made lake. Immediately when I saw the name, this inquiring mind wanted to know. LOL – Since Michigan borders Canada, I have enjoyed my trips to Windsor, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Stratford on the Avon, and Winnipeg. So much beauty. Enjoy the summer days. Best wishes. Looking forward to your upcoming release.
Thank you, Renate! I have been to Michigan a couple of times, but that was a long, long time ago. One of my sisters used to live in Jackson, and I’ve flown in and out of Detroit. 1980, I think!
Beautiful pictures Valerie, I wished I was on that lake in a sailboat! Or any boat really :-) I love being on or near the water, so relaxing.
We weren’t on a sailboat, either! Just a regular old motorboat! Me, too. LOVE the water.
Beautiful photos!
Congratulations to the winners.
Thank you :)
That title picture is just gorgeous with the swell in the foreground. So beautiful. Thanks for keeping the IR ship on course and for decorating the passenger cabins with such delightful art!
Thank YOU for the lovely compliment :)
