Another weekend in June, Jim and I went camping with his parents, as well as two of his sisters and brothers-in-law. Everyone had their camping units and we practiced social distancing even with some joint meals. It was great to sit outside in the sunshine and catch up on each other’s lives!

BC is such a beautiful area. Its so vast but the areas I have seen are beautiful. I stayed on the Sunshine coast for a few days and it was lovely. Then up to Pemberton and I really love that area. Vancouver was good too. You have the mountains and the wilderness areas. I enjoyed hiking to Nairn Falls although will admit it was good to actually walk most of the track with a couple from Switzerland. (we didn’t see bears but my friend waiting for me did see a bear at the start of the track)
Dianne says
It looks so gorgeous and peaceful, hard to imagine the rushing of the water. Enjoy!
Paula Marie says
Those pictures are so peaceful looking!
Trudy says
Love the pictures!!! BC is definitely on my bucket list!!
Lincoln says
Y’all are steeped in beauty! Thanks for sharing once again.
Valerie Comer says
I love hearing about your visit to BC, Jenny! We camped at the Nairn Falls campsite and had a look down the path, but we arrived too late and had too far to drive the next day to take that hike. Maybe another time.
As for bears, we see probably 5-8 most years, usually black bears but occasionally grizzlies. Usually we are in the vehicle driving along but sometimes see them when we are less protected. My husband used to work in forestry and has had more close encounters than I care to think about!
Valerie Comer says
That river is deceptive! It’s deeper and faster than it looks in the photos, especially in June when the snow is melting in the high mountains. It’s definitely not safe to go for a swim! Besides being the temperature of ice…
Valerie Comer says
Truly there is nothing like nature to settle one’s spirit. For me, specifically, water. If I can’t have the ocean — and I usually can’t, since we live a long day’s drive away! — I’ll take a mountain lake or a tumbling stream any day of the year.
Valerie Comer says
It is definitely the BEST place in the world to be told: stay home!
Valerie Comer says
This truly is one of my favorite places on the planet, but I’m sure going to miss not seeing the Pacific this year!

Valerie,
That’s wonderful that you got to hang-out with your sibs! That sounds like so much fun! I’m beginning to feel isolated from my family and friends – and I generally prefer seclusion. It’s just that 6mos is excessively long – lol. One of my sibs & her hubby dropped by our house yester as I was walking out the door for work, so that was too bad. My hubby got to visit w them & eat pie. :D I haven’t seen them since last summer so as I left we agreed we all need to check calendars & work something out. I’m sure we’re not the only ones w that dilemma.
Yay! for summer & better opportunities!
Valerie Comer says
Yes, we’re almost five months into this thing! Crazy. My hubby’s sibs all live locally so we do see them occasionally, but that sometimes means we don’t get together because we COULD do it anytime! This wasn’t everyone, but it was a good start. :)
My own four sisters and I got together in Florida in June, 2019. One lives near me in BC, one in Ontario, one in Wisconsin, and one in Florida, so we don’t see each other that often (last time had been 2016, then 2012). We’re sure glad we had a great week together last year!
Kathy Schnitz says
Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures! It must be amazing to live there! Have a wonderful week.
Valerie Comer says
You’re welcome, it is, and you, too!
Trixi says
I’ve so enjoyed your pictures Valerie and lived vicariously through them :-) What a grand time for you and your family to celebrate being together and catch up on each other’s lives. I bet that was the highlight of your camping trip and that fun & laughter ensued all around!
Happy SONday everyone!
Valerie Comer says
Thank you! It WAS fun. :)

Love the photo of the bridge over the rushing water.

There is normally one near the railway lines but no not the day we were there. There is normally one outside Squamish but no it wasn’t there on the bus back to Vancouver. I saw some in captivity at Grousse Mountain.
I did see a Mama and 3 cubs in America.
Valerie Comer says
BC has a lot of bears :) I’m glad you got to see some.
Valerie Comer says
It’s a pretty spot :)
Nancy Fudge says
Goat River caught my attention as we raise goats. Pictures were so pretty. Glad you had family time.
Visiting Canada has been on my wish list for years, but due to husband’s health and trouble walking any distance, looks like pictures and books are in my future for visiting my list of places.
Valerie Comer says
Hi Nancy! And now with the international boundary closed for several months with no end in sight, far fewer people will have the chance to visit. I’m glad the photos are helping scratch the itch for travel :)
