Happy Fall, Everyone!
We’ve had some GORGEOUS fall weather around here – cool. Rainy. Yucky to be out in. And it would have been perfect if I hadn’t had to be out in it :p. Ah well ;). But I was out and about today for a good reason – my niece and nephew-in-love are having a baby! The shower was today so I got to see my mother-in-love, step-mother-in-love, aunt-in-love [yes – this is my husband’s niece if you want to get technical, but I’ve known her since she was 18mos old so I can pretty much claim her as mine ;)].
Do you have fall festivals where you live? We have Pumpkin Daze in my town. Another town near here is holding the 48th Annual Apple Butter Makin’ Days this weekend. There’s about 4500 people in the town but about 45000 will come this weekend (and it’s not FAR from decent sized cities, but it’s not CLOSE either). They’ll have almost a thousand pounds of apple butter by the time it’s all said and done. We’ve talked about taking the kids one year but we haven’t yet had the chance.
PLUS with fall comes POST-SEASON BASEBALL! And both Missouri teams are in the League Championships! The St. Louis Cardinals are second only to the Yankees in post-season success and this marks the fourth year in a row they’ve made it to the National League Championship Series (NLCS). The Kansas City Royals haven’t made it to the post-season since 1985 (when they beat the Cardinals in the World Series after a controversial call – long story – look it up if you want to know more ;)). They’re kind of a Cinderella story this year and we’ll gladly root for them until we get to the World Series if they’re up against my Cardinals.
Do you have a favorite team still? Or would you rather go to Apple Butter Days and skip the baseball diamond all together?
