In the DC Area at least, the weather this past week has been divine. Sunny and cool and just the perfect taste of fall. Even the rain we’ve had (and I feel a little sad that we’ve had rain when the folks out West could use it so much more than us) has been fall-like.
It’s been so restorative to my soul.
There’s a lot going on in my life right now – my sister’s cancer is back and stronger than before, so we’ve been thrown into the deep end a little this week with surgery for a chemo port and then starting up chemo and…it’s all a little much.
So I’m grateful the weather, at least, has been good.

So sorry to hear about your sister’s cancer. Praying for her and all of you! Send some of that fall like weather to FL, please! We’ve gotten a lot of rain, but it’s still HOT!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Thank you! And ha. Florida is always so hot. I wish I could send some cool your way.
Trudy says
True! We’re to cool off a tad this week, with highs only in the 80’s. I’ll take it!
Valerie Comer says
After nine days of off-the-charts air “quality” from the wildfires south of us in the Pacific NW, this morning I see blue sky and clouds and (wait for it…) mountains!!!! encircling our valley — they’ve been completely shrouded. Still a bit of smoke haze, but quite livable. We were to get rain this weekend and haven’t seen a drop, so I wasn’t counting on the reprieve. Rain later this week… maybe.
Praying for L. Praying for you. Sending hugs.

Father, I pray for Elizabeth and her family as they go through the pain of her sister’s cancer. May they come to see that this has not taken You by surprise nor has it come just to bring pain or punishment but rather to demonstrate Your glory. Please, grant them peace in the midst of the trial. Enable them to be lights to those around them so others may see Christ in them.
Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ precious and mighty name, amen.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Yay for clearer air!
Elizabeth Maddrey says

I’m so sorry to hear about your sister, prayers to you all in this difficult time.
It has been absolutely beautiful fall weather here! We have been in the 30s at night and daytime temps in the 60s! This coming week we will be up to the 40s & even a couple of 50s at night and 70s daytime. I LOVE this!! Perfect football weather! Can’t get better than that! 🏈🏈🏈❤
Elizabeth Maddrey says
That weather sounds perfect! We haven’t been quite that low at night, but we’ve been hovering in the low 70s during the day and that is so nice after the 90s in the summer.
Diana says
Lord bless you and bring peace, strength and healing to your sister. We enjoyed fall weather in Kentucky and cleaned out our gardens some. It’s fun to hear about northern Virginia since we moved from there three years ago.
Judy says
Side note: Amazon is showing “Hope for Freedom” as available in May 2021.
Paula Shreckhise says
Just a tiny taste of fall. We are moving and it was hot and sweaty work! At least yesterday was cooler when we had to clean the old place.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Yes. It’s going to be 10/27, but I’m waiting to change the date when it’s back from the editor
Elizabeth Maddrey says
How fun! I bet you don’t miss it ;)
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Oh gosh. Moving is always the worst.

We’ve had similar weather in the nearby Baltimore suburbs.
Sorry to hear about your sister. Prayers for her. My MIL’s cancer has returned, too. Her surgery is scheduled to happen in another week.
Trixi says
I live on the Oregon coast and it’s nice that our air is finally clearing up. For most of the week I couldn’t open my windows because the air quality was so bad….they said it was the worst in the world! Now it’s fresh air and a bit of sun with nice cool weather. I’ve never been so grateful for good air in my life, sometimes we take the littlest things for granted. We often don’t appreciate things until we no longer have them available to us.
I’m sorry to hear of your sisters cancer return. I will be keeping her and your family in my prayers Elizabeth. God has her in His hands and knows the outcome of her life, I’m glad she has family around to help comfort her and encourage her.
Congrats to this weeks winners! I’ve enjoyed each post, I just love this group :-)
Happy SONday everyone!
Elizabeth Maddrey says

Thank you for the bundle I won. In 65 years I can count on 1 hand things I won. I was gone to my daughter’s house when the package came and opened when I got home last night.
I was with my daughter to help with children, 3 year old grandson and 6 month old granddaughter, her husband was scheduled for open heart surgery. Due to Sally, hurricane that hit south Alabama and Florida, all was postponed. Long story short they are all at our house and he is to have a doctor, that specializes in the mitral valve surgery, do surgery in Birmingham. At this point not sure if he will be a candidate for robotic surgery, minimal invasive, or if he will have to have open heart.
I am sorry to hear about your sister and her battle with cancer. Will add her to my prayer list.
