Helmcken Falls are one of the must-sees in British Columbia’s Wells Gray Provincial Park. The canyon carved by this waterfall through gorgeous rock layers is impressive, to say nothing of the huge bowl at the base, formed by thundering water and the rocks and logs it has carried downstream over the years.

I just love waterfalls! Thank you for sharing!
This park is along the edge of a high plateau, which gives a great distance for water to plummet. So many beautiful sets of falls in this area! I’ve got a few shots of other ones saved for next week.
Oh, these are soo pretty!!! The top pic looks like there’s two waterfalls; is there, or is it just the angle of the picture? I love that platform to stand and watch!!! Can you hike around it?
It’s basically a continuation of the same set of falls. The platform is at a pretty good viewing angle, isn’t it! There are apparently trails to the rim (on both sides, I believe) but we weren’t up for the sort of hiking that would have required. We did get up close and personal (read: drenched) with another waterfall the next day. Pix next week!
Can’t wait to see them! Only waterfall I have ev re been to is Kaaterskill Falls in New York
I remember noticing that Florida doesn’t have much for elevation change, which is kind of required for waterfalls! But Google shows me Kaaterskill Falls are sure pretty, too.
Congratulations to the winners! The waterfalls are Beautiful , Thank you for sharing your photo. Have a Great week and stay safe.
Yes, pretty flat here, lol
Hi Valerie! Thanks for sharing your travel pictures. I enjoy seeing and hearing the rushing water in waterfalls. Lower Michigan only has one waterfall. The most famous Upper Peninsula falls is Tahquamenon Falls near Lake Superior. I have also visited Niagra Falls on several occasions. The Nachi-no Otaki Waterfall in Japan is 133 meter tall and 13 meter wide. Legend has it that if you drink the water, which is sold for 100 Yen or $1 you will live a long life. The water was served on a commemorative saucer, which I have. My Japanese host wanted me to experience the Japanese tradition. Waterfalls are calming to the spirit. Happy Writing. Looking forward to Cadence of Cranberries. Thirty miles north is a blueberry farm that also grows cranberries. Was hoping to watch the harvest this year. This is only their third year to grow cranberries.Best wishes.
Thanks for coming by, Alicia! Have a good week.
Thanks for sharing your waterfall memories! I’ve seen Niagara once… would have been about 1972, I think!
I’m a water person. I love tumbling creeks and quiet little lakes and roaring rivers and the wild Pacific Ocean. God’s majesty is felt so strongly in all those places.
Such beautiful pictures of just the tiniest taste of God’s amazing power and creativity. Thanks again for sharing.
This reminds me of Snoqualmie Falls up in WA near my sister-in-law! It has a platform that visitors can stand on to watch the water. So beautiful!
We have many falls here in Oregon; Multnomah Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Horseshoe Falls, etc. All are so pretty to visit. I love waterfalls! One day I hope to make it to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side (I’ve heard it’s prettier from there) :-)
Happy Sunday everyone! Thanks for all the terrific pictures Valerie.
Glad you enjoyed them!
I have seen those Oregon falls, Trixi. So fun to stand on a bridge and see the water cascade above and below!
Yes, the Canadian side of Niagara is where all the action is, haha. It is beautiful, but so commercial. It even was when I was there as a kid. I can’t imagine it now. I love me some nature :)
Congratulations to the winners! Beautiful pictures!
Thank you!
Can’t wait!! I like to travel through pics!! I bet that would be quite a hike! It kinda looked like there might be a trail.
Not all trails are passable by all hikers ;)
My brother and I went to Niagara about the same time you did, Valerie, and I remember having that same sense of commercialism. Our first night, after we came back from touring around, we came back to our little motel and I remember hearing the roar of the falls in the distance. It surprised me at first and then I thought, “Oh, yeah, I guess they don’t turn the falls off at night!” LOL :)
Oh, that’s too funny!!!
beautiful waterfalls photos
I’m glad you enjoyed them :)
I’m sure! I sure wouldn’t get too close to the edge! I have a fear of heights, so I’m not sure I could stand on the platform, either! I thought it showed a trail, and wondered! I’m sure some people are brave enough to try!
I have a thing about heights, too. Probably some of that is my eyesight. It’s hard to gauge distance and that makes me cautious. Just wait until next week’s photos and you’ll see how brave I really got!
