Happy Sunday! Last week I spent a few days at the coast. I appreciated the summer sunshine and sea breeze. I love seafood, especially when it’s caught fresh. When I was growing up, my parents would line up on a Friday night at our local fish and chips takeaway shop to buy dinner. On Friday I took a trip down memory lane and indulged in the great Aussie tradition of fish and chips by the water.

Absolutely nothing better than fresh seafood from the boat, prepared simply and elegantly. One of the perks of living near the ocean. Were you a fishcake kid, pineapple fritter or one who loved those chiko rolls, lol, with your fush’n’chips?
Fish and chips at the beach. Still a favourite.
We often had fish and Chips for lunch on a Sunday after church as we had limited time for lunch and it was an easy lunch. Even later I would often get chips and mum a Hawaiian burger. We live an hour from the beach so didn’t get there a lot (a country hour not a city hour.)
Your summer picture of ice cream and your picture of the coast are both refreshing. We’ve had a cold and snowy winter in my neck of the woods.
I love looking at the water. It’s so calming.
I love fish and chips. It reminds me of my trip to England a long time ago.
I also like fish and chips, Florida style! Lol!! As long as the fish isn’t too fishy, anyway!!
Don’t think I’ve ever had a proper fish ‘n’ chips, but it always sounded yummy!
I love memories like that!
I love the coast. Just sitting and watching the waves, listening to the birds soothes my frayed edges.
I love memories and I Love fish n chips They are awesome also I am a Print Gal all the way Have a Wonderful Sunday Blessings To You!
It was always a treat in our home, at least for me, when dad would bring home fresh fish Nd shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico. Our daughter learned the same taste explosion this past spring. She’s ruined for frozen seafood now.
I was just talking about going fishing today. There is nothing like eating fresh fish. I want to go to Montana for a fishing trip.
Glad you enjoyed your trip to the coast. In my opinion nothing beats spending time at the beach.
Sounds like you had a great week! And it’s also fun that you got to relive some memories :) my brother and I have heard a lot about fish and chips, so we hope to one day experience it too.
One of our favorite places to go is on the waterfront in Seattle WA to eat at Ivar’s. It’s a restaurant that serves fresh fish & chips (salmon, cod, halibut), their homemade clam chowder and other fresh seafood. We haven’t been there for a few years, so it’s always a treat when we can make it there. It’s also nice that they have outdoor seating to enjoy on a sunny day and watch the water over the Puget Sound.
Of course, we have places here where I live on the Oregon coast that you can buy fresh caught fish & seafood right off the fishing boats. We did that one year & bought a fresh tuna fillet so my husband could grill it. YUMMYY!! It was the best thing ever. We also have restaurants you can have fish & chips, chowder and other seafood. Living on the coast is a great place for that kind of food!
Happy Sunday everyone!
It’s always fun to go to the beach/shore! I’m not a huge seafood fan, but when we head down to the beach I will sometimes get fresh seafood.
We eat fresh trout often as hubby is a great fisherman.
Love a good fish fry!
Fish’n’chips. So yummy! It was a real treat growing up.
Fresh fish right out of the water and pan fried is delicious! One time when we went camping for a day, my husband fished and he caught some fish and they were the best, he cleaned them and then he pan cooked them not too long after he caught them and they were delicious! Have a Great week and stay safe. God Bless you and your family.
Congratulations to the winner!
Love fresh seafood eaten waterside.
I’m craving Fish and Chips now…
Beautiful pictures! I can’t wait until we summer is here in the States. Winter is too cold for me.
Hi Dianne, Potato scallops and calamari rings were my top picks. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Mary, The seagulls clean up the leftovers, lol. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Jenny, I love the Aussie burgers with the lot that include bacon, egg, beetroot and pineapple. Fish and chips is a fast and easy takeaway. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Ellie, I love seeing summery photos during our mid-year winter season. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Rachiel, The water was beautiful and I love smelling the salty sea air. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Lori, Our Aussie fish and chips by the seaside tradition definitely has British roots. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Trudy, I’m not sure what Florida style fish and chips tastes like, but I’m sure it’s good! Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Lincoln, I hope you’ll have an opportunity to experience fish and chips in Australia or England. I’m not sure if Canadians have the English style fish and chips? Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Paula, It’s fun to remember the good old days. I live inland (90 minute drive to the nearest beach on the NSW south coast) and it’s always a treat to visit the beach. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Kim, The coast is relaxing and peaceful, especially when it’s not peak tourist season. There’s lots of birdlife to watch and dolphin/whale watching tours at different times of the year. Thanks for commenting. 😊
I’ve always loved seafood, too. When I was young, my parents would take us up into the mountains of Idaho, and my dad would catch us some fresh rainbow trout! Yum!
Then when I moved to NC with my husband, we were finally able to go to a beach house on the coast with some friends and have fresh scallops, shrimp, and crab legs!! Double yum!
It kind of spoiled me — all frozen (the only kind we can get in the western side of the state) is not nearly the same quality. But I will take shrimp any way I can get it. ;)
You almost made me feel warm for a minute there, thanks! I’ve always loved fresh fish! Nothing quite like it. I loved going to my grandparent’s cabin as a kid, from the fishing, cleaning, cooking and eating it. I was so excited when I was old enough to have a hand in every step.
The last time I enjoyed fish and chips was on a cruise ship. I was with my mom and brother and it was so good!
Hi Narelle! Happy Monday! Enjoyed reading the comments about Fish and Chips. In Michigan we have Fish Fry Fridays. Due to the pandemic miss going to our favorite brewery for fish and fries. I have eaten fresh fish my husband caught in small inland lakes and cleaned and prepared. I have eaten Fish in Germany, Switzerland, Japan and at the London airport. Mmm. So many kinds. So many ways to prepare fish. Enjoy your week.
Hi Sarah, I think I’ll always be a print girl at heart who wishes for infinite physical bookshelf space but accepts that’s only possible for ebooks. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Vicci, I love fresh prawns (which is what we call shrimp) and I agree, frozen seafood just isn’t the same. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Sonnetta, I hope you’ll be able to go fishing soon in Montana. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Jessica, I wish I could spend more time at the beach. Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Trixi, yes, I’ve enjoyed eating delicious fish & chips at a restaurant on the Oregon Coast. And, I also discovered clam chowder – which isn’t easy to find in Australia. I love Atlantic salmon and it’s one of my top picks to order if it’s on the restaurant menu. Ivan’s in Seattle sounds like my kind of restaurant! Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Patty, yes, it’s fun to visit the beach and eat fresh seafood. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Lucy, I do love fresh trout! Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Megan, Your fish fry sounds fun! Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Linda, A cruise ship is a fun place to enjoy fish and chips. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Renate, Your Fish Fry Fridays sound fun. Interestingly, we call fries ‘chips’ unless we’re at places like Maccas (McDonalds) who use the American terminology. I like salmon and tuna in sushi and I agree, there are so many different and delicious ways to prepare fish. Thanks for commenting. 😊
I come from a fishing village, so I grew up with fish and other seafood. I’ve always found it very tasty.
Oh, how I wish I could go to the shore! It’s a pain being landlocked! Fish and chips sounds delightful as well.
Hi Marilene, Fresh seafood all the time would be amazing. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Arletta, It’s only a 90 minute drive to the coast from where I live, and I wish we could visit more often. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Congratulations!! May God bless you throughout the week.
