Sadly these are not my crocuses. However, mine are finally blooming! A few years ago Jim and I bought a bunch of bulbs and cast them out on our lawn. Where they landed, we dug them in. So there are little patches of yellow, lilac, and dark purple springing up here and there. So fun. They are finished before the grass ever needs mowing, so they don’t interfere with that. But they’re also not as pretty as the photo above since they’re surrounded by brown grass!

I have freesias that come up through my lawn. Each year there are more as the bulbs multiply. Just beautiful.

Hi Valerie! I had a few crocuses that every spring come up in the grass. I chuckled at the mention of the brown grass. Yup – Just before Easter, first grade granddaughter was writing a story about Sammy the squirrel and Flop the bunny (stuffed animals) and we were taking pictures of them smelling the crocuses. Had to crop out the brown dead grass. Blessings this Sunday. Hopefully the weather will warm soon. Best wishes.

I planted some pink flowers years ago (not even sure what the name of them are!). They were planted in the flower bed, but then they were dug up for some reason. Anyway, they still come up every year, just all along the front of where the old flower bed used to be. Mom and I always got a kick out of watching them come up. I tried to dig some up and replant them once, but I couldn’t get all the way down to the root. So, we just enjoyed them wherever they sprang up. Now, I’ll be looking for them this year. It’s been so dry, they haven’t come up yet.

Freesias are so pretty!

We had several mini-blizzards yesterday! It was crazy. I’m sure the moisture will do the lawn good, though. We had a fairly dry winter in the valley.
Valerie Comer says
Pink flowers are so cheery! Well I guess nearly any flowers are :)
Lincoln says
Being much farther south, our crocuses have come and gone. Now we have the flowering trees coming along. I think Spring is my favorite season, hampered only by all the pollen and the renewed need to mow the lawn :). Beautiful flowers, moderate temperatures and sunshine. It’s all good.
Congratulations to this week’s winner. Have a great week to come!
Valerie Comer says
I love spring, too. Thankfully I don’t suffer from allergies, or I might feel differently! I love all the HOPE and newness of spring.
Trixi says
When we bought our house four years ago, I inherited Irises & crocuses in the flower boxes on the side yard. I had no idea they were even there until that first Spring & was delighted to discover them blooming :-) I am no green thumb, so in spite of my mostly neglecting them, they still show their bright faces. I love seeing the pop of color! I just wished they lasted longer :-)
Happy Sunday everyone here on IR!
Valerie Comer says
Yes, the really good gardeners (of which I am definitely not one) know what bulbs to plant for a succession of color all summer.
Alicia Haney says
Hi Happy Sunday, crocuses are beautiful flowers. We don’t have any crocuses , but we did have some Hyacinths and some grape Hyacinths, which are so very pretty also and they have a beautiful smell to them. I love it when Spring arrives because all the flower bulbs start coming up. Have a Great day and a Great week. God Bless you and your family.
Valerie Comer says
Blessings to you, too!
Debra J Pruss says
