This weekend I have something in common with those of you in the USA. It’s a holiday long weekend where I live in Australia, and the exodus from the city commenced on Friday. The ski season has started, and it’s only a two hour drive from where I live in Canberra to the ski resorts in the Snowy Mountains. I hope our American readers are enjoying their Memorial Day weekend and the start of summer. I’m dreaming about warm weather and summer vacations. I’m also happy I can escape into a summer beach read and pretend it’s not cold outside!

It’s a holiday weekend for us in the UK, too! The last Monday in May is always a holiday, and the roads have definitely been busy here as well as people make their getaways. I’ll probably spend a large chunk of the day tidying up our backyard.

Yes, we have a long HOT Holiday weekend! We’ll (hopefully) get rain this afternoon, we need it soooo bad! I’m staying inside in the A/C, except for church, today. Since I plan NOT to go out on weekends, except to church, I don’t know what traffic is like in my town, but I was listening to a radio station from Orlando yesterday, and traffic was really bad there, with multiple accidents. And, not just there, but in other areas of Central Florida.

It’s going to be a beautiful (mostly) sunny Memorial Day weekend through Tuesday on the Oregon coast….probably mid 60’s to lower 70. I am looking forward to it :-) We don’t get too many nicer days here so it’s a real treat when we do!
My mom lives in New Zealand so they’re going into winter as well, her least favorite time of year. Though like us on the coast, her weather is pretty mild compared to a lot of other places in NZ. It’s always funny to think of our seasons being opposite of each other :-)

Hi Trixi, Enjoy your beautiful Oregon Coast weather. The South Island of New Zealand has a cooler climate than where I live. I could travel to Northern Australia (the tropics) during winter if I wanted some summer weather. The top end is hot all the time! 😊
