If you’re on Facebook, it’s likely that you already know, but we at InspyRomance are so saddened to hear of the passing of Marion Ueckermann this past week.
Marion was a long-time blogger here at InspyRomance, only stepping down this year when she needed to spend more time helping to care for her grandchildren due to school closings because of Covid. In addition to being a wonderful friend, she wrote fantastic books set in locations that were unique and interesting, and she designed covers for her own works as well as for many others.
She was an incredibly talented, warm, and loving woman and will be sorely missed by all of us.
You can read Marion’s blog posts from her years at InspyRomance here.
You can find Marion’s books on Amazon.
If you have a favorite of her books, let us know in the comments – I’m not sure I could choose just one!

Very sad to hear about Marion’s passing. An enormous loss for her family, friends, colleagues and readers. She leaves a wonderful legacy and I am at a loss to choose from so many amazing and favourite works of hers. Looking forward to the days when remembering Marion invokes only happy memories here. In God’s Care.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
It’s definitely hard to choose a favorite!

Thank you Elizabeth for the loving tribute to our dear friend and IR author Marion Ueckermann. As I write this post, it is still hard to fathom the loss. I have reviewed Marion inspiring stories since 2015, written praise paragraphs, written emails, interacted on FaceBook and been part of her Novel Street time. Her talent will be missed. As a mom of sons and an Oma to two grandsons and then finally a granddaughter we shared a special connection – plus our love for European travels, language and culture.
As stated it is difficult to select just one book that is a favorite. I especially enjoyed her descriptive writing in Seven Suiters for Seven Sisters. I know she was instrumental in the Tuscan Legacy series. Enjoyed the mysterious painting, Italian grandma and grandkids. A delightful way to travel the world. As a daughter, I enjoyed the book Bush Tails a tribute to her dad. As an English teacher, I enjoyed reading her poetry. In All Things – 13 Weeks of Devotions from Africa I appreciated her love of the ocean and its mighty creator God.
Dear Marion: Rest in the arms of God and reunite with her beloved parents.
Blessings to all who knew Marion Ueckermann. Enjoy the week.

I’ve been a part of Marion’s Novel Street Team for a few years, and it’s really difficult to pick just one of her books! She was such a talented author, artist, and crafter!! She leaves a great legacy for all of us. I’d say her book, Poles Apart, ranks high on my list, since I know that she really did jump in freezing cold water with one of her sons, like the hero and heroine do in the book! I’m looking forward to meeting Marion in Heaven. She will definitely be missed here.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
I loved Poles Apart.
Linda says
We all prayed so hard for Marion’s healing and I was so disappointed that God didn’t heal her!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
It’s definitely hard when God chooses eternal healing rather than a restoration here on Earth.
Lincoln says
Though my interaction with Marion was limited to posts and comments here on IR, I was blessed by her openness and acceptance. As others have noted, her skill and commitment to her craft of writing and cover design was nothing if not impressive. Her kindness was no less so.
Father, please comfort and bless all those who mourn Marion’s passing, especially her family. Please give her a hug from us!
Amen
Valerie Comer says
I know Marion planned to rejoin us at Inspy Romance when her life settled down a little. She loved everyone here and missed us already in the few months since she stepped away, as we loved and missed her.
Now we will keep missing her. She was a good personal friend of mine. I hate using the word WAS. :'(
I loved many of her stories, but I’ve claimed Poles Apart as my favorite before and will stick with that. It’s a delightful Christmas romance.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
She had so many wonderful qualities above and beyond her immense writing talent, it’s true.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
It really is a delightful Christmas romance.
Paula Marie says
I will miss her so much.
Jcp says
I only started reading her books through the wonderful Chapel Cove series but my deepest condolences to her family and all who knew here in person and virtually.

Such a great series!

My family and I prayed daily for Marion when I saw her post on FB about going to the hospital with Covid. Little did I know that God would heal her in eternity rather than here on earth. I’m just heart-broken! I didn’t know her as well as some others did, but I enjoyed her posts here & on FB. I know she enjoyed helping her family out during this time and it just breaks my heart to know her family now grieves for her loss. I know God has other plans & His ways are higher, and that she’s now basking in His presence….but in times like this, it’s so hard to understand :-(
I now pray for her husband and family that they would feel the comforting arms of our Father surround them as they go through this valley.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Yes absolutely!
Alicia Haney says

My heart breaks for Marion’s family. I’ve been a fan of hers since I discovered her over 2 years ago. I’ve read so many of her books, it’s hard to choose just one. They’ve all touched me. She went to be with Jesus exactly 2 months after my previous Mom.
Mary Preston says
Sadly, I have not read any of Marion Ueckermann’s books yet.
Ausjenny says
I am not sure I have a favourite novel but do have several on my kindle.
She will be greatly missed. She was very easy to correspond with and always friendly. Prayers for all her family and friends as I know this has hit many hard. I have been posting the updates on my fb wall and after her passing a friend who is not a Christian also posted a RIP with one of her previous posts. I have been praying her passing will be used to bring people to Christ, While I would rather her still be here if that can happen it will be a blessing.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
That’s absolutely okay as well.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
She was a sweet, sweet soul. It would be so lovely if her passing helped even one person come to Jesus.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
I’m so sorry for your additional loss.
Judy says
I too was saddened to hear of Marion’s passing. I have read some of her books and one of my favorites is The Other You.
I also enjoyed reading her newsletters. She will be missed.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
That’s definitely a good one.

I don’t think I’ve ever read any of Marion’s books, but was definitely sad to hear of her passing.
I had enjoyed seeing her post some of her art lately on her Facebook page.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
The bears she did for her grandchildren were adorable and I’m so glad she was able to finish them!
Debra J Pruss says
I am saddened to hear of her death. My condolences to her family and friends. Congratulations to the winners. God bless you.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Thanks.
Narelle S says
As others have said, I was praying that God would heal her body this side of eternity. All is glorious joy for her now. Even with the comforting hope of heaven her family and friends will be grieving so deeply over losing her.
I think the first book I read of Marion’s was Poles Apart, which I loved. Only this year I launched myself into the delightful world of Chapel Cove and was struck by the beauty of her voice filled with grace and wisdom so evident in her writing.
My prayers and condolences to her loved ones and to all of you, her author sisters.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
That’s so well put. <3
denise says
So sorry for your loss.
Lelia (Lucy) Reynolds says
My deepest sympathy and prayers. I have not read her books.
Ausjenny says
That is what I am praying Even on my wall I had people praying who dont identify as Christians. But because of being on forums for similar issues (pain) they will accept prayer etc. These people said they would pray. I really think while we will probably never know but this will bring people to Christ and will open doors to have those conversations.
Amy Perrault says
Very sorry for her loss. It’s very sad. :(

Marylin Furumasu says
I had the privilege to be a beta reader for Marion on many books. She was a wonderful soul and will be dearly missed. I had never gotten the opportunity to meet her but we were often FB messaging back and forth. I considered her a friend. I’m praying for the rest of her family as they are still dealing with others who are sick. Please remember them in your prayers.
As for choosing a book – NOT that’s too difficult! There are just too many to list!
