Happy Sunday, and Happy Valentine’s Day for tomorrow! (Or today, if you’re in Australia, New Zealand or the Asia Pacific and reading this post on Monday in your time zone.) Some of you may be celebrating Valentines early this weekend. I’d love to hear if you have any special plans.
The Winter Olympics is on until February 20. I love watching the figure skating, and I enjoyed seeing Torvill and Dean perform on ice in Sydney, Australia many years ago. They became famous after winning a swag of events, including a gold medal for the UK at the Sarajevo 1984 Winter Olympics. I was a youngster back then, and I remember watching them win gold on our brand new color tv. It was an exciting day when color television arrived in our home, lol. Do you have a favorite sport in the Winter Olympics, or a favorite moment from the 2022 Games?
Tomorrow is the launch of our big Birthday Bash giveaway. Paperback book bundles, ebook bundles, a paperback bundle for international readers who live outside USA, plus a fabulous Grand Prize. Mary Preston says
You mention Torvill and Dean and I can here the Bolero music. They were wonderful to watch.
Carolyn Miller says
I’ve been loving watching the Olympics. Given the subject matter of my recent book it probably isn’t a surprise that short track speed skating and ice hockey are my top sports to watch :)
Renate says
Happy Valentine’s Day Narelle! Being a snowy cold often windy February in SW Michigan, I have been watching parts of the Olympics. I enjoy watching Figure Skating and downhill skiing. I enjoyed ice skating as a teen and now our small resort community has several ice rinks, including an indoor facility. Curling fascinates me, as does the luge. Looking forward to the Birthday Bash tomorrow. Best wishes.
Milla Holt says
I haven’t watched any of the Olympics this year. I do enjoy figure skating (who doesn’t?) and I used to like seeing what weird and wonderful trousers the Norwegian curling team would show up wearing.
Trudy says
I’ve never watched the Olympics! My family never watched when I was growing up. I’ve watched figure skating some, and maybe caught it a few times on the Olympics, but not to watch to see who wins, and not for more than maybe half an hour. I’d be reading through them, anyway, and miss way over half. I read through shows all the time, and there’s only a few I put the book down for (except for commercials, I always read through those!).
Lilly says
I don’t really have anything planned for Valentine’s Day, I’ll just congratulate my friends on the day of love and friendship.
Mary R Kennemer says
I enjoy watching the figure skating.
Natalya Lakhno says
I love figure skating ⛸
Have a blessed Sunday!
Jcp says
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Trixi says
We have never watched the Olympics, though if I were, it would be the ice-skating. The only sport we do watch is NFL football & today is the Superbowl!! Whoohoo!
I can’t believe another birthday bash is almost here again! It seems the year goes by so quick. Looking forward to celebrating with you all.
Happy SONday IR!
Narelle Atkins says

Narelle Atkins says
Hi Renate, Happy Valentine’s for tomorrow! In winter we usually have a man made outdoor ice skating area set up in the city. There’s one indoor rink in Canberra, too. The Michigan climate is great for winter sports. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Milla, It’s fun when the teams dress up, and curling is also fun to watch. 😊
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Trudy, yes, I tend to watch streaming services more than free to air tv, and the ad breaks we have on free to air can be ten plus minutes long! Lots of reading can be done in ten minute sprints, lol. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Lilly, It’s nice that Valentine’s Day can be celebrated as a day of love and friendship. Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Trixi, Enjoy watching the Superbowl! NFL is on free to air tv in Australia now (Monday morning). Thanks for commenting. 😊
Trudy says
Our commercials don’t last that long! Usually about 5minutes for two or three, maybe a tad longer. I still read through them! I read through some of the tv shows, and can still follow the plots, but if it’s a show I really like, I’ll just read through the commercials.
Patty says
We have been watching a good bit of the Olympics. My husband is especially fascinated with the Curling!
Debra Pruss says
We have not been watching the Olympics. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.
Alicia Haney says
Hi, I have only been watching bits and pieces of the Olympics. Congratulations to the winners.
Amy Perrault says
Happy Early Valentine’s Day
Ausjenny says
I am watching the Olympics but sick of a few sports they keep replaying. But looking forward to the aerials tonight. I remember lots of the Ice skating (Not a fan of the ice dancing) this year we are not getting much of the figure skating. I remember Eric Hieden back in 1980. It was the first year we really got to watch any. Loved so many of the sports cos it was all so different (Cant handle Ice Hockey still seems so brutal to me) I do however enjoy watching curling.
Julie Dahl says
Our Valentines Day will be spent with our grandson (age 6) here for part of the day. That will be a great change in routine for us, and we will enjoy having him here.
Marilene says
My favorite moment of the Winter Olympics so far was when Nathan Chen performed on ice La Bohéme. That song was a favorite of my French teacher from high school. Happy Valentine’s day to you too!
Priscila Perales says
Hi Narelle! I love figure skating too, but we haven’t been able to watch the Olympics this year. Still, I’ll probably go catch the replays on Youtube (thankful for it, lol). Also, Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you had a good one. :)
Narelle Atkins says
Hi Patty, I find out the Curling fascinating, too. I like the leisurely pace. Thanks for commenting. 😊

I love watching figure skating. I was also happy for Nick Goepper, who won silver in skiing slopestyle, who started skiing at the same place I took lessons.
