Tundra swans stop by our valley early in the spring (and late in the fall) to rest up along their migratory route. They arrive before snow and ice melt away, but there’s always some open water. These swans nest in Alaska and over-winter in California, but they grace our valley for several weeks in either direction.

Love the photos of the swans. I didn’t know about them but they look so beautiful and it must be good to watch them.
I agree, the swans are beautiful.
I’ve seen those swans in California! My niece used to live in the central valley of California, north of Sacramento. When we’d drive to her place around Christmas time, there were several flooded rice fields where we’d see lots of swans! Fun to know they come to visit you too :-)
Love the swans!! Orlando has swans at Lake Eola, and once a year they do a “swan roundup” with volunteers so that the swans can be checked by vets to make sure they are all healthy.
They are so beautiful!
Have a blessed Sunday
Good morning, the Swans are Beautiful! When I hear the word Swan , Graceful always comes to my mind! Thank you so much for sharing the photo with us. Have a great Sunday and a Great week. Congratulations to all the winners.
Such gorgeous birds and photos. Swans were my grandmothers favourite birds though she was born near where the black swans lived on the Swan River in Western Australia.
lovely pics
They are beautiful and graceful!
Aren’t they neat?!?!
Oh, fun! We saw lots of sandhill cranes when we came through that part of California in November, 2019. They also stop in our valley on their journey, but not in the numbers the swans do. Didn’t see many swans that trip.
That is super interesting, Trudy! I had no idea.
They sure are!
Those two words sure do go together :)
Black swans would be amazing to see :)
Thank you!
Happy sunday. What lovely birds.
Hi Valerie! Your Swan photos on this warm sunny Michigan Palm Sunday reminded me of visiting the Michigan Kellogg Bird Sanctuary October 2018 and feeding the swans. Was a great experience. Love watching them swim, dive under water, and waddle around. Beautiful birds. Always put a smile on my face. The forsythia is starting to bloom and the daffodils have buds. Finally a sunny day in Michigan and 60 degrees (15 degrees C). Enjoy your week.
I’ve not seen too many swans in person, but they sure are beautiful! However, I do see a lot of Canadian geese around where I live. Not the same, I know but still pretty cool :-) I just love God’s creation!
Happy Palm Sunday IR!
They are so majestic :)
Your spring is more advanced than ours! No forsythia yet and not much for daffodil buds except the few bulbs in a VERY sheltered spot are blooming here. :)
Canada geese are pretty cool, too. Rather squawky compared to swans… but not as bad as ducks LOL.
Beautiful swans.
Agree! :)
Yes, they even have food dispensers so that they aren’t fed bread, as they shouldn’t eat bread. They use volunteers in kayaks to round up the swans, and all of the swans have bands to identify them.
That’s fascinating.
Fabulous pictures. Happy book birthday to all the new releases. God bless you.
Thanks, Debra!
I didn’t know about them. Love the pic! :)
I’m glad you enjoyed the photos!
Love the photos & makes me want to go outside & watch our geese & ducks tomorrow again.
Yay for inspiration to be outdoors!
