Happy Sunday! Next week winter will arrive in Australia, which means I’ll be waking to morning frosts and dreaming about warmer weather, tropical beaches, and summer vacations. Those of you in the Northern Hemisphere are probably planning your upcoming summer activities. Do you take a summer vacation? Will you be heading to the beach or a lake or the mountains? Or, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, do you visit the mountains and ski fields? I’d love to hear about your mid-year plans, wherever you live in the world.

Hi Narelle! After an unseasonably cool and wet spring, this retiree is ready for summer and spending time outdoors on our back deck and front patio. Living near Lake Michigan we have miles and miles of sandy beaches, sand dunes, historic lighthouses, wineries, beautiful parks and family owned fruit farms. Lots of back roads and small towns to explore. Best wishes.
Living in the mountains in South Africa, our mid year plans are to have lots of log fires, and the occasional snow fall when our family can travel to enjoy it too- that is- over the weekend!
We’ve had summer most of this year already in Florida! We did participate in Winter for awhile, thankfully, but spring doesn’t happen here. I took a vacation in March to visit relatives with my oldest sister. June is going to be busy with about 7 books (that I know of now) to proofread, and at the end of the month my re-certs and testing start again for my insurance business for 2023.
Hi Renate, I’d love to go back to the US and explore Lake Michigan and surrounding areas. I haven’t been to Michigan and it’s on my travel wish list. An overnight stop in Chicago on my way to a writing conference was not long enough. Enjoy your summer and thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Jeannette, My husband and I did a day trip today to the mountains and further west in regional NSW to see family. I love the mountains, but it was hard driving through the parts that were devastated by bush fires in January 2020 and will take years to recover. The green hills and plains from all the rain we’ve had in recent months was beautiful to see. Enjoy your winter and snow! We get excited when it snows where I live, lol. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Trudy, I think of Florida as summer all year round, and that misconception was burst when I learned that it can snow in Florida. It’s good that you could vacation with family in March. Enjoy your proofreading and thanks for commenting. 😊
We are in spring right now and making plans for plants, new shed and starting to plan for summer. Cant wait to get together with family and friends outside with a bbq and just plain fun. I think this year we will just be taking small mini vacations
Summer is definitely in the air here in England, and we’re all looking forward to the long bank holiday to celebrate the queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Our holiday plans aren’t yet fixed. We tend to be a bit ad hoc, but we might go to a caravan park in early July. Either that, or go up north to the Peak District.
It can but rarely does!!
It’s been a very cold, wet, windy spring in western Canada. After last summer’s extreme heat, I’m trying to be okay with a longer, cooler spring! We went camping this past week and even kayaking, but it was definitely chilly.
This year we have had record rain fall the last time we had this much rain was 1940 and then in April we had 6 to 8 inches of snow and that is not normal for us to get snow in April.im ready for warm weather.
Happy Sunday everyone!
We don’t normally take summer vacation because my husband works for a resort motel & that’s the busiest season. Though we may occasionally take day trips on the weekends when he has those days off. Our vacations or trips occur after Labor Day in September when it’s quieter & he can get away easier.
I may go to visit my sister-in-law by myself at least once during summer….though not in the hot months of late July or August! :-) I can’t stand the heat and she gets some pretty hot days where she lives. I wished she would get central A/C in her house, then it would be much more comfortable…lol!
I live on the Oregon coast, so our summers are pretty mild & we get those cool ocean breezes :-)
We live in the Southern US. We usually head to the beach at least once a year, if not twice. But usually go in late spring or early fall, not mid summer during the height of the heat and vacationers/
Happy Sunday! I haven’t had a vacation in many years. I am not a heat lover though so that’s not all bad. I do live in the Great Lakes State so most people around here spend a large share of summer on one lake or another, Even on weekends it is common for families to go to a cabin or state park. Growing up I used to spend weeks and/or weekends at my grandparents cabin on a river. I miss the atmosphere, close relationships & fishing (catching, cleaning & fish dinners). It was a great childhood! I hope you all spend some great times with family/friends-no matter the season!
I don’t know about next week. Winter has already arrived up here on The Downs.
no plans
don’t have any plans
Hi, here in Texas it is Spring and it is very hot. Yesterday’s high was 105 and it isn’t even summer. We have not taken a vacation for a while , which is fine with me, on hot days like these, I would rather stay home and take care of our plants. Been retired for awhile, so it seems like I am always on vacation. :)
Firstly congrats Deb and Milla. I look forward to Tabitha hosting this week. I missed posts last week.
it’s going to be a cold start to winter. actually today is cold although I have 2 cats on my lap. Henry was injured last week and now likes to be on my lap and yes he snores and sighs in his sleep. I have a very warm lap and a foot going numb. makes doing anything online very hard. Not looking forward to winter and don’t have plans to go anywhere right now.
We have no vacation planned. We live in the mountains of WV and it was in the 80’s today. We are busy planting our garden and lots of yard work with all the rain we’ve been having.
I will try this a third time. Congratulations to all. Thank you for sharing. We will not be traveling this summer. God bless you.
We’re still in Spring more just less then a month before Summer but it’s so warm that it feels like summer already.
Almost Summer & the hot weather came very early this year. Enjoying camping
Hi Lori, Enjoy your gardening, summer gatherings with family and friends, and mini vacations. Thanks for commenting. 😊.
Hi Milla, The Platinum Jubilee will be a big celebration. We have a public holiday for the Queen’s Birthday on June 13. Enjoy your summer holidays. 😊
Hi Valerie, I hope the weather warms up a little bit for you. A cold snap has arrived here, and there’s snow falling in the mountains. 😊
Hi Kendra, I can understand why you’re ready for warmer weather. We’ve had a lot of rain in recent months where I live in Australia. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Trixi, Enjoy your summer and the not too hot weather on the Oregon Coast. Ocean breezes are lovely in summer. I don’t mind dry heat, but I’ll do my best to avoid summer humidity. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Patty, Summer at the beach is busy. I had a melanoma removed from my back last year, and I try to avoid being outdoors in summer when the UV levels are high. Enjoy your beach vacations when it’s quieter. 😊
Hi Deb, A vacation in a cabin by a lake or a river sounds like fun. Enjoy your summer in the Great Lakes State. 😊
Hi Mary, The cold snap has arrived here, too. Stay warm and thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi bn100, I hope you enjoy your summer. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Alicia, 105 in Spring is too hot! Our plants need our attention during the hot weather. Enjoy your summer and thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Jenny, My cat, Miss Daisy, also snores, lol. She’s also a lap cat now the weather is cooler. I hope Henry makes a fast recovery. Stay warm and thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Lucy, I like visiting the mountains during summer. Enjoy your gardening and yard work. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Debra, I’m sorry you’ve had trouble commenting. Enjoy your summer and thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Amy, Enjoy your warm weather and thanks for commenting. 😊
Hi Sylvain, Enjoy your summer and camping. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Henry is doing so much better its freezing today and he wants cuddles only Libby is jealous and boxed him the 3 quick hits to the face. If he is on first its ok but if shes on the lap she gets really possessive.
I’m glad he’s on the mend. Jealousy in the cat world is not fun, lol.
