Welcome to November! It doesn’t feel like November where I live in Australia because winter weather has returned. There was even snow visible on the Brindabella Mountain Ranges near Canberra a few days ago. We have a joke in Canberra that winter starts on ANZAC Day (April 25) and ends on Remembrance Day (November 11). It’s supposed to be the start of summer next month, and I’m hoping it will warm up a bit soon.
I did have a taste of summer during October when I attended the Omega Writers Conference held in Kingscliff, NSW, at a hotel resort on the beach that’s only short drive south from Gold Coast. I loved catching up with writing friends in a beautiful venue by the sea. It was also an escape from the rainy weather back home. I took the sunset photo (see above) during my flight home from conference. It was calm and peaceful in the plane above the clouds, and a different story for those on land under the clouds. We’d appreciate prayers for the flooding rains in Australia to end. Our cyclone season in the northern tropics, that’s usually responsible for inland flooding, hasn’t started yet, either. Our inland river systems are overflowing, and many towns in the eastern Australian states are experiencing major flood events.

we hadhad a warm day today and are going to have a few warmer days to come this week but then back to the wet weather. I was beginning to wonder if we would get warm weather. The riverland (in SA) is now getting the flood waters. with the Murray so full and the amount coming down many of the holiday shacks/homes are starting to flood and the low lying areas are already flooding but they expect the worst to come in a few weeks. It will happen all the way to the sea although the closer to the sea the better prepared those towns are in as how they were planned. Having a dryer week will certainly help.

Some areas of Florida are still experiencing flooding from Ian. The St John’s River flows north, is very slow moving, and next week we may be getting more rain from another tropical system. I didn’t know I won something from Lindi!

I love hearing about the seasons in other parts of the world. Sorry to hear some areas are still suffering with flooding etc.
Here in the south west of England it’s not very exciting – grey, rainy but nothing dangerous, starting to feel a bit chilly.
Wishing everyone a good week.

Good morning, here in west Texas it has been warm, the mornings start off cool and then it has been warming up during the day. Have a great week. Congratulations to the winners.

busy week

Hi Jenny, We’re actually going to hit 20C today, and it will be warmer (with rain) later in the week, too. I’m praying SA will miss the worst of the flooding and the warmer weather will help dry the ground. Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Trudy, A slow moving river is not helpful if more rain is coming. You should hear from Lindi very soon. Please email us if you don’t (sometimes emails go astray). Thanks for commenting. 😊

Hi Ruthie, I was shocked to see the terrible bushfires in UK, and Europe, during your last summer. It’s green like Ireland where I live – so not normal for this time of year! I’m glad your drizzling rain won’t be causing any problems. Enjoy your week and thanks for commenting. 😊
