Happy time change weekend!
I was so excited last year when I read that the Senate had passed a bill getting rid of daylight savings. And then I was sad when the House didn’t even bother to put it on their schedule.
So here we are again, uselessly shifting our clocks around and losing sleep because of some bizarre reasons. There are times I think places like Indiana and Arizona and Hawaii (who don’t participate) are full of super smart people.
Ah well. I’ll adjust eventually. In the meantime, an extra cup of coffee for me!

We don’t have daylight saving in QLD. Too much daylight and sun already.
Ausjenny says
Where I am we have it but here in australia the states that have it start second month of spring and end 2 second month of autumn, (Oct – first sunday in April). I think its too long. I hate getting up in the dark. I think it should end the end of Feb and start the beginning of Nov. that would be plenty long enough. right now its dark til not long before 7am. I much prefer waking up in light. We have 2 states Queensland and Western Australia and one territory, Northern Territory that don’t have Daylight savings.
Oh and part of the reason its dark longer is that my state is half an hour behind the eastern states not the hour it should be. They keep talking about putting us on the Eastern states time but as we are a big state the western part of the state it would be like being on daylight savings time all the time.
Audrey Stewart says
I could’ve slept an hour past my usual wake-up time because it’s Sunday, but my cats aren’t having it. Breakfast must be served! I was so excited to be Laurie Larsen’s winner. Thank you. I look forward to this week’s post.
Milla Holt says
We still have Daylight Saving Time in the UK, but I wouldn’t miss it if it were abolished. Our clocks go forward in two weeks’ time.
Andrea Conner says
I agree! I’ll be so glad when we can finally get rid of this moving forward and moving back with time.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Oh wow. I’m just a little jealous. :)
Elizabeth Maddrey says
I feel like ours used to be shorter, but it got made longer in the early 2000s? Not sure.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
I feel that desire to sleep in today. My dog was content to snuggle. Happily, my 11 year old is a morning birdie and got us up and going so we’ll be in time for church.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
I don’t understand why everyone is in a different schedule 😂
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Here’s hoping!
Trudy says
I do NOT like time change!! I’ll admit, it’s a lot easier for me to adjust when we turn the clocks back (plus that extra hour of sleep!) but it’ll take me a few weeks to adjust to moving forward! I just want them to set it and forget it, and I don’t care which time they use!!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Yes! I don’t care which one, but I would be happy for them to choose one and be done.
Bonnie says
It looks like I’m the only one on here who likes Daylight Savings Time. I’m not really thrilled with it not getting light until almost 8:00, but I really enjoy it staying light later. They are going to try again to pass it to stay DST for which I am hopeful.
RuthieH says
I’m in the UK like Milla, so we’ve got a couple more weeks – I find it throws off my kids’ sleep schedules (which are never great at the best of time) and always leaves me feeling a bit jet lagged, so I’m not a fan either. Hope everyone is feeling more adjusted to it soon!
Coming from such a small (area wise) country, I find it amazing that different states in the same country are on different times or have different rules about daylight saving time changes, I had no idea!
Lori R says
I don’t like the time change and really hope that we can get rid of the change.
Lori R says
I don’t like the time change and really hope we can do away with it!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
It can be nice for it to be light later, although that makes bedtime hard for my youngest. But it’s not insurmountable.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
The sleep disturbance is hard for sure.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
I’m with you.
Bonnie Heringer says
As far as the time change goes, I can take it or leave it. I just roll with the punches. But I can’t believe the birthday bash is almost over. Where did the time go!?
Renate says
Happy Time Change Sunday. I slept in today. Ha ha! My internal clock hasn’t
changed. Will need to set the alarm for tomorrow when I take my granddaughter to school. This Michigander lives 30 miles from the Indiana border. Part of Indiana does change to Daylight Savings Time (especially areas near the Michigan border). Confusing when I want to shop or go to some favorite restaurants in Indiana. At least now with cell phones it is much easier to keep track, when establishments are open. Also confusing is trying to contact German relatives. Time changes at a different date or maybe not at all. Once again thankful for an International Clock to help. Definitely easier on the aging body in the fall. Best wishes. Looking forward to spring – warmer temperatures, less gloom and Michigan an inch of snow, then thawing with more snow. Enough is Enough! Congrats on your upcoming release Her Billionaire Benefactor: Easter in Gilead.
Melynda says
Time change Sunday isn’t my favorite Sunday of the year, for sure. We were definitely late to church and our kids aren’t even very young anymore. It still seems to totally throw us off.
Kendra Muonio says
I don’t really like the time change it messes with my sleeping schedule but I’m ready for warmer weather it’s been raining, raining with snow, hailing or just really cold the last month or so.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
It would be good in my mind!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Right? How is it the middle of March?
Elizabeth Maddrey says
I’d forgotten that Indiana split. That is even more confusing!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
We made it on time, but it was a rush!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Oh boy. I’m a little jealous because we got no snow at all this year and I miss getting at least a little. But I do love spring.
Alicia Haney says
Good morning, yes, the time change affects me for a day or so, but hopefully one day they will stop doing all this time changing, in the mean time unfortunately we have to deal with it. Congratulations to the winners. You all have a great week.
Elizabeth Maddrey says
It’s true. I shouldn’t fuss about things that I can’t change :)
Lelia (Lucy) Reynolds says
The time change doesn’t really affect me as I don’t sleep well anyway. Happy Sonday!
bn100 says
Happy Sunday
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Oh man. That’s awful. Hugs
Elizabeth Maddrey says
To you too.
Debra Pruss says
I agree. The time change makes it hard for me too. Congratulations to the winners. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.
Jessica B. says
I’m not a fan of the lost sleep but having the extra hour of daylight in the evening definitely makes up for it.
Priscila Perales says
It’ll definitely be an interesting day whenever they decide to stick with one and see which one it ends up being.
Sarah Taylor says
Happy Sunday Have a Blessed Week!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Thank you for being part of IR!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
It was nice to have daylight at the end of Awana tonight!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
It will!
Elizabeth Maddrey says
Thank you. You as well!
Natalya Lakhno says
I’m jealous of those who don’t have it too ☹️
Angeline says
Daylight Savings is so rough especially because it is on a Sunday. But anyway, Happy Sunday and congratulations to the winners!
Megan says
I agree! DST really screws with my sleep schedule and I wish they’d do away with it.
Martha says
I love Daylight Savings Time!! I really, really like having daylight in the late afternoon evening. The evening drive is easier. I wish we had DST year round.
There is an interesting line up of new books this month.
Doris Lankford says
I think Daylight Savings Time needs to be done away with, it serves no purpose now. All it does is mess with people’s sleep and schedules.
Cherie J says
I also don’t care for DST and wish it would be done away with. It really messes up my sleep cycle for days and sleep is already difficult for me since going into menopause.
Kathy Blair says
I had to come home Monday and take a nap. I’ve read that there are a lot more accidents the week of the time change. Time for it to go (no pun intended!).
